Artfully Science School Out Days

Join Science Matters and Young Rembrandts on Friday, September 18, as we rocket our way through this high-flying, aerodynamic camp and travel to the farthest reaches of the galaxy in our Cartoon Adventures in Space drawing workshop.

Explore the world of drawing with a professional art instructor. Each month features an exciting theme!
After School Science Class: Way Out Water

Use your engineering skills and put water to work with a water wheel, see sticky water, and make paperclips that float. Taught by science educators from Science Matters.

Windsor's Historic Cemetery: Twilight Tours Coming Soon

Did you know that Lakeview Cemetery in Windsor was established over 130 years ago? 

In the 1880s, Windsor residents looked at an overgrown field and decided to come together to transform it into a cemetery. 

Early settler Lewis Kern donated his land to the Town for the cemetery. Two Windsor women, Fannie Hahn and Atta Kern, drove their horse and buggy all over the Windsor area, collecting money to build a fence to keep cows out of the site. 

In 1916, the cemetery was improved with a well to water the grass, and in 1919, the cemetery's ornamental gates were installed. Today, the cemetery stands as a reminder of early Windsor's commitment to make the community a better place.

It also holds the stories of some of Windsor's most infamous townspeople. From a theater-owning mortician to a failed gold miner who became one of Windsor's wealthiest residents, discover tales from the past at Twilight Tours of Lakeview Cemetery during weekends in October.

Before the Move: Collections Storage at the Art & Heritage Center

Windsor's priceless artifacts, archives, and historical objects are finally in their new permanent home. This project has been in the works since July 2019 with museum staff and volunteers working hard behind the scenes to inventory, pack, and move the museum collections.

              • 810 staff hours logged
              • 168 volunteer hours logged
              • 20 hours for moving company to move all objects
