by Roger Robbins
Can you believe it? In the small town of Monroeville, Alabama, during the 1930s, lived two children. One was a small boy with a high voice, a fancy jacket, and short trousers. The other was a girl who was as tough as any boy and who protected her little friend. Their bond lasted a life time, and they became two of the greatest American writers of the 20th Century: Truman Capote ( In Cold Blood) and Harper Lee ( To Kill a Mockingbird).
