DOLPHIN DID YOU KNOW
DDYK STAFF SPOTLIGHT

MONIQUE NEWELL
This week's staff spotlight is dedicated to Ms. Monique Newell. She has been working at Jefferson as the new Office Assistant since the middle of August. However Monique is not new to Jefferson: her kids went to school here and, over the years, she did a lot of volunteering at the school.

Monique was born and raised in Los Angeles and attended Hollywood High School. Her favorite place to travel to is the island of Kauai. She finds the island beautiful and calming, and the people are super friendly.
Her first job was at the Paramount Movie Theatre which is now the El Capitan in Hollywood. Asked what would she do if she won the lottery, Monique mentioned that she intends to buy everyone in her immediate family a home.

If she could choose one age to be forever, Monique would pick 30 because by that age one has lots of life experience, while still physically strong.

Asked what her advice is for kids who are struggling in school, Monique encouraged everyone in this situation to seek out all of the support that they can get.

SKECHERS PIER TO PIER ALL VIRTUAL FRIENDSHIP WALK

OCTOBER 25, 2020
#WalkWithRBUSD
The annual SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk is an awe-inspiring event that brings our South Bay community together for one common purpose: to support children with special needs and education.

In 2019 RBEF had 4112 registered walkers, making RBUSD the #1 School District for walkers in the ENTIRE SOUTH BAY!!! Join the JEFFERSON School Team NOW and Redondo can be #1 AGAIN!

Last year, Jefferson reached its goal: we had of 308 walkers and received $14,280 from RBEF.

One lucky Jefferson walker will receive a coupon for a FREE PAIR OF SKECHERS SHOES (more info coming soon). Sign up your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and even your dog. This is also a great opportunity for family members and grandparents out of town to support your favorite school.

We may not physically be together this year, but we can still virtually come together for our favorite team event of the entire year!

The Green Ambassadors will be meeting virtually one afternoon per month after school, starting in early October. All interested students should download a permission slip from the PTA website and e-mail it to Catherine Wieman at cnmitchell99@hotmail.com

Once we have a roster of interested students, we will reach out to students and set a time for our first meeting. If you have any questions, please contact Green Committee Co-Chairs Catherine Wieman (cnmitchell99@hotmail.com) and Ho Min Houta (hominhouta@gmail.com).
