Huron Valley State Bank
Supports Local Non-Profits
Huron Valley State Bank has a proud history of giving back to the community through sponsorship and donations.  Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, many of these programs are postponed or cancelled for an undetermined period of time. In April, the bank supported Meals on Wheels to provide food donations for pantry bags to the seniors.  In May, the bank supported Open Door Outreach Center with a direct donation.  Then June the bank gave a donation to Hospitality House.

Most recently, Huron Valley State Bank donated $550 to Huron Valley Blessings in a Backpack to assist with adopting five children for the 2020-2021 school year. This will provide six meals each weekend during the entire school year to those five children who are part of the schools reduced or no cost lunch program.  A big check was presented at the Huron Valley Schools District Office.
Melissa Herron
Promoted to Bank Officer
Jack Shubitowski, President and CEO of Huron Valley State Bank, is pleased to announce the promotion of Melissa Herron to Bank Officer.  Her new title is Cash Management Officer and she is responsible for developing a strong relationship between operations, retail and the commercial lending team to create a link between the bank's product offerings and the needs of business customers. Herron serves as a resource for all their cash management needs and remote deposit capture services.
"As a long-time employee of the bank, Melissa has consistently shown outstanding customer services skills, product knowledge, and sales skills.  She has gained expertise in deposit and cash management services and has helped grow that business line for the bank.  Always a team player, Melissa jumped into the middle of the Paycheck Protection Program and became a valued resource for many of our business customers during this difficult time.  We are grateful for her contributions to the bank," Jack Shubitowski President and CEO added.

SBA Paycheck Protection Program
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act allocated funds to help small businesses keep workers employed amid the pandemic and economic downturn. Known as the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), the initiative provides 100% federally guaranteed loans and forgiveness grants to small businesses. Huron Valley State Bank is an approved Small Business Administrative Lender and was able to provide these relief programs through the PPP to its business customers.
New ATM Machines &
Enhancements in Mobile Deposit
Huron Valley State Bank announces the arrival of its new and improved ATMs located at the Milford and Highland Branches. These machines provide customers with the opportunity to deposit cash and checks without the use of an envelope or deposit slip. In addition to the standard ATM functionality of withdrawing cash, checking balances and transferring between accounts, customers will be able to receive a confirmation of their deposits, including an image of the check printed on the receipt. As an added feature, the ATMs have a tilt option to accommodate vehicles of all sizes for optimal viewing of the screen.

"The investment in these robust machines gives our customers the convenience of handling their banking in a true 24-7 banking environment. The ATMs provide the opportunity to do the transaction when the drive-thru or lobby is not available," said Jack Shubitowski, President and CEO.

In addition, enhancements have been made to the Mobile Deposit function of Mobile Banking. Customers can now view check images and across all of the Bank's platforms. To access Mobile Deposit function of Mobile Banking, contact your branch for activation*.

*Activation of Mobile Deposit is pending for 1-2 business days. This feature is subject to enrollment approval.

Phone Phishing Scams
Make A Comeback
Illustration depicting a phone with a scam call concept.
With the wave of phishing scams using emails and texts (SMS) as weapons, hackers are finding the public is getting better at spotting them. In response, cybercriminals are now revisiting phone scams as a way of reaching the same end as their online counterparts: to steal as much PII (personally identifiable information), including financial data, as possible. Adding insult to injury, after a hacker cleans out a victim's accounts, they put the hijacked PII for sale on the Dark Web. In 2018, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) found phone phishing was one of the top three identity theft attacks. The other two were credit card fraud and employment or tax-related fraud.  Learn More
