On-Campus Housing
On-campus housing is available for housing for professional, graduate and non-traditional students in the Neil Avenue Building and at the South Campus Gateway. To learn more and fill out an application, visit Graduate, Professional and Non-Traditional Housing.
We strongly encourage students who qualify and want on-campus housing to apply as early as possible and complete a housing contract. The availability of spaces is limited, so early application is encouraged. The cost of housing varies by the type of apartment.
Before you sign a contract to live on campus, be sure that you read the contract thoroughly and that you want on-campus housing. University Housing can be contacted at [email protected] and by phone at 614-292-8266.
Off-Campus Housing
If you are interested in living off campus, we recommend you start your search with Off-campus and Commuter Student Services. This website maintains an online housing search with information on accommodations both within walking distance and driving distance to campus.
To reach Off-campus and Commuter Student Services, call 614-292-0100 or email [email protected].
Student Legal Services (SLS) provides legal services to Ohio State students. Eligible students pay an annual participation fee for the SLS legal services plan. SLS's scope of services includes Landlord-Tenant disputes.
Before you sign a lease to live off-campus, you should schedule a lease review appointment with an SLS attorney.
Currently, SLS is offering Skype appointments to newly admitted international students to have their housing leases reviewed line-by-line, and to explain students' housing rights and responsibilities under Ohio law. Even if you have already signed a lease, SLS can still perform the lease review. Appointments can be scheduled online (please choose the Civil Matters schedule).
Once you have scheduled your lease review appointment, Student Legal Services will send you a confirmation email including instructions for the Skype appointment, and an agreement that you will pay the SLS annual fee ($40.00 per year).
Be aware that only degree-seeking students are eligible to utilize Student Legal Services. Exchange students are ineligible for lease review, but may contact SLS for materials that can aid in reviewing their own lease.

Temporary Housing
Students with Ohio State Housing Contracts
University Housing offers "early arrival" housing for $35 per night only to students with signed contracts; in most cases, students who pursue this option will move directly into their room assignments. Instructions on how to make a reservation for temporary housing and pay in advance will be emailed to students' Ohio State email accounts as part of their housing assignment email. Questions can be answered by calling 614-292-8266 or by emailing [email protected].
Students without Ohio State Housing Contracts
On-campus early arrival/temporary housing is not available to students without contracts with University Housing. You may be able to find temporary housing at a local hotel or motel, or through some of the Ohio State's international student organizations. Please refer to Temporary Housing for more information.
