A MESSAGE FROM
Brother Bill
Super Bowl Sunday! The LA Rams play the Cincinnati Bengals! Did you know: 70,000 people get to attend in person? Another 98 million will watch the game on TV? Did you know that GraceWorks will have a Super Sunday? We won’t have a game but we will have a pre-game tailgate party! Sign up and show up for a great time; event starts at 4:30 and you’ll get home in time to watch the game on TV. But that’s not all….
Starting this Sunday morning, we will return to one service at 10:30 AM. Our children will take up a Noisy Offering; so empty your piggy bank and bring the coins (proceeds go to feed the hungry). Also, the children will have special gifts for all the ladies for Valentine’s Day and make a special presentation to our local police officers. It’s going to be a Super Sunday in so many ways. If you haven’t attended in a while, this is a great day to reboot!
Finally, no one ever serves without criticism. When we criticize those who serve, we mostly do so with bias. Rather than helping the elected/volunteer person serve better, criticism is counter-productive and hinders that person from doing his/her best. No one needs criticism; everyone needs prayer. If you want to talk about someone, make sure you’re talking to God. The Bible teaches us to talk to God about leaders with whom we agree and disagree and let Him follow up on our conversations! I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession, and thanksgiving be made for all people — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." (1 Timothy 2:1-2) Paul reminds us in Ephesians 6:12 that the problem isn’t our leaders; the problem is the dark powers of the Universe (Satan). Include in your daily prayers: your President, Governor, Mayor, and other elected officials; your Pastors, Bible teachers, and other church officials; your children’s teachers, coaches, and friends; your boss, co-workers, and the unemployed; your neighbors on either side of you, the ones who live in front of you and the ones behind you. When you talk to God about all these, you’ll have no desire to criticize anyone. Prayer is far more powerful than criticism.
