YOU ARE NOT A MISTAKE

Over the years as a Pastor, I have observed so many people that have been hurt by words that someone else said to them. This is especially true about words spoken over them as children. What we hear negatively from our parents, teachers, and others and what we say to our children negatively will define them for life unless they receive help and healing from the Lord.

Years ago, my late husband and I were pastoring in another city where a young boy about 5 was in our church. I had been teaching him in Sunday School. His mother came to me very upset one day because his schoolteacher had told him that he was stupid and would never learn anything. Now this boy was not stupid, he was actually very bright. I talked to him and asked him why he thought she would say it. His response was that he hadn’t learned what she was teaching. Very quickly I told him this, “Just because you don’t know something does not mean you are stupid, it just means you haven’t learned it yet.”

We moved away from that area but visited again several years later when he was in High School. His mother came to me and told me he was graduating with honors, and what I had said to him turned him around. He had gone from thinking he was stupid because of someone’s careless words to believing in himself because words of life were imparted.

Some of you reading this may have been told various things or even said some careless words also. A really bad one is, “you’re just like your father.” Or “you’ll never change.” Or “you are a big disappointment to me.” These are all lies from the devil, but he speaks through us when we do not guard our lips.

One time several years ago an associate in our ministry came to our home for dinner and also invited their mother to come. This woman took me aside and said that this child was a big disappointment to her. I in turn said, “I don’t see that. I see a faithful person that has accomplished much.” I was not going to be part of the trap that Satan wanted to set. Gossip can lead to destroying someone if we allow it.

I want you to know that you are not a mistake. Sure, you have made mistakes, but do not let them define who you are my friends. God chose to give you life and has a great plan for you. Do not let idle lying words control you. Rise up above them, and be what God sees. You are his creation, created in His image, fearfully and wonderfully made, and He loves you. If He created you, who are we to speak against God’s creation?  If God had a refrigerator, He would have your picture on it and show you off to His friends, because He loves you that much!

Remember, you are not a mistake! ♥

THE CHRISTMAS SERIES PART 6
WE THREE KINGS OF ORIENT ARE – PART 1

“We three kings of Orient are bearing gifts we traverse afar…” is a song we often hear at Christmastime. It reinforces a false imagery invented by the Roman church and perpetuated throughout Protestant churches.

The images we see painted are three camels with one king mounted upon each camel. To counter that false narrative put forth throughout Christendom, we will simply point out truth. Truth trumps the false.

The story of the wise men’s visit to see the newborn king of the Jews is told in Matthew 2:1-12. It is quite a remarkable story. First of all, they were not “kings” in the traditional sense of rulership. They were “magi,” the plural form of “magus” which means “astrologer.” It is also the root word for “magic” as the magi were presumed to have some divinely appointed supernatural understanding, hence “wise men.” They studied the stars (as astronomers) and could understand “times, seasons, and events” from the stars. The Bible tells us that God has written the times and season in the heavens.

The “wise men” had such a long-storied history that Babylonian kings had wise men as their court advisors. They were born in the southern part of Babylon called Chaldea. They had some Persian heritage, so they were more Persian than Babylonians; they were uniquely Chaldean.

Abraham was born and raised in Chaldea in the city of Ur. When he left as a young adult with his father and brother Haran, his other brother Nahor remained in Chaldea and raised his family there. Abraham and Sarah were Chaldean. Abraham years later sent his servant back to Chaldea to get a Chaldean wife for Isaac from his family’s bloodline from Nahor.

With Abraham’s blood connection to them, the Chaldeans somehow were knowledgeable of God’s prophecy that a great king would arise out of Israel whose dominion would be everlasting. When they saw this star in the heavens, they knew it was a sign that this king had been born. They felt compelled to go honor him as their people had awaited him for centuries.

This is the background. Tomorrow we will talk about the actual visit, correct some errors, and discuss just how very special this event was. Stay tuned.

A WORD OF EXHORTATION

Be prepared my friends for 2021. Many weren’t prepared for 2020 and look what happened.

I hear the Lord saying there is no room for any kind of offense. We must walk with integrity and pure hearts. There will be a greater sifting and shifting than ever so be prepared. Do not be hasty in making decisions. Do not rely on anyone to lead you other than the Holy Spirit. There is much deception coming. Don’t walk in fear. Walk in faith! Walk in the authority that God gives his children. It is time to rise up and fight the fight of faith with our weapons that are mighty through God that will pull down strongholds. We must come out of the prayer closet and act on the assignment we have been given. Mighty exploits and miracles will happen through those that rise up and go in the power and anointing of the name of Jesus!
