Twenty-third Sunday After Pentecost
November 17, 2019

"We invite everyone to share communion around God's altar.
We strive to be a welcoming and relevant Christian community doing what matters through prayer, worship, teaching, outreach, fellowship, and service.

We will demonstrate the real life application of scripture, tradition, and
reason by providing a safe place to respond to each other's needs,
hurts, joys, and interests."

Shining our Light:
2020 Annual Giving Campaign

Thank you for being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God.  What a blessing and honor to be stewards of what God has given to us!  Thank you for supporting our ministry and mission at Resurrection and allowing Resurrection members to be beacons of light in our parish and out in the community. No matter what amount you pledge to Resurrection, your commitment makes a difference in the ministry and mission we do. As part of your spiritual discipline, we hope you will make sure to joyfully turn in your pledge so we can continue to shine our light in the parish and in our community.

You can pledge by filling out a card found in the narthex, or the easiest and most secure way to offer your pledge is by going to  https://www.resurrectionsautee.com/estimate-of-giving-for-2020.

We hope to have all 2020 commitments turned in by December 8th. Thank you for being a blessing!

Youth group is going to sing on Sunday, Dec. 1st when the Bishop is here.
Please plan to be at all 3 youth group meetings in November if possible.
We will rehearse with Bailey and his guitar.
See you Sunday at 9:30.

Vestry Nominations Open for Those Who Wish to Serve

Those interested in serving on Vestry at Resurrection please contact Jan Kay, Michael Randall, Nancy LaForce, or Father Scott. Please let them know of your intention to volunteer for this great ministry! Vestry is a 3-year commitment and meets once a month (except July and December) with a retreat in January. Vestry members serve in a leadership role with a ministry within the parish.

Vestry qualifications are: any confirmed communicant in good standing of the parish not less than 18 yrs of age,  team players who are generous with their time and treasure, they must be leaders that are self-motivated and can organize others, and have a passion for God's mission of love and service to others and the work of this parish.
TONIGHT!

We are preparing music for the Bishop's visit on December 1.  If you are interested in singing with us, please attend the next 2 Wednesday rehearsals at 5:00 p.m.  Our anthem will be How Can I Keep From Singing? (click Watch).  Let's make a joyful noise for the Bishop!

Keep our delegates - Joe Cash, Brandi Cash and Andy Gilbert, as well as Fr. Scott - in your prayers as they attend Annual Council November 22nd and 23rd.
Resurrection will again be supporting the annual White County White Christmas Project (aka Angel Tree) this holiday season.  B eginning this Sunday, 11/17, we will have angels on the tree in the nave for selecting boys and girls of various ages with their gift wishes.

Participating shoppers will have until  December 8 to shop for their angel(s).  All bags are due back on that Sunday. We will collect them and take them to the collection point.

Please consider supporting this very special ministry/outreach opportunity again this year.  May the spirit of Christmas be alive in our hearts as we bring cheer to those less fortunate then ourselves!

For additional information, please contact Katie Lynam (706/809-8024;  katie30528@gmail.com) or Ray Gregory (828/361-8993; rgregory963@yahoo.com).

Inda Allen Scholarship Dinner
Sunday, November 24, 6:00 p.m.
Sautee-Nacoochee Center

The community celebration and fundraiser for the Inda Allen Scholarship Fund will be at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24 (the Sunday before Thanksgiving) at the Sautee-Nacoochee Center.  Everyone is welcome to attend and enjoy a delicious meal, fellowship and entertainment.  Please bring a dish to share.

This annual event is jointly sponsored by churches in the Sautee-Nacoochee area:  Nacoochee United Methodist, Nacoochee Presbyterian, Resurrection Episcopal and Bean Creek Missionary Baptist.  Fr. Scott is a member of the Scholarship Advisory Board.

Inda Allen was a high school junior when she died in 1987 of a blood clot; the White County school system did not desegregate its bus system until 1990.  As a resident of the historically African-American neighborhood of Bean Creek, Inda was a scholar, athlete, fashion model and soul-stirring vocalist, but also a symbol of hope.

The Inda Allen Scholarship is an annual minority student scholarship for graduating African-American students at White County High School.  The scholarships are awarded to qualified black students for tuition and/or expenses at colleges or technical schools.

On this night of fellowship, contributions will benefit the Scholarship Fund, which has awarded nearly 40 educational scholarships to African-American students since 1988.

Resurrection Episcopal is proud to contribute to the scholarship and pleased to encourage continuing support of the educational aspirations of African-Americans with historical ties to the Bean Creek Community.

Inda Allen - a beautiful memory that still lights the way, today and tomorrow.
Hosted by:
Nacoochee United Methodist Church, Nacoochee Presbyterian Church,
The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, and Bean Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
