Welcome City Attorney Jennifer Logue |
|
After an extensive search, the Mountain View City Council appointed Jennifer Logue as City Attorney at their Tuesday, Feb. 8 meeting.
Logue is a seasoned local government attorney with more than 22 years of legal experience, having most recently served as the Supervising Attorney over the General Government & Finance Unit in the Oakland City Attorney’s Office.
The City Attorney represents and advises the Council, advisory bodies and City departments in matters of law related to City business. As City Attorney, Logue will oversee staff of four attorneys, two code enforcement officers and two legal support staff.

Preparations Underway for City's Refreshed Visual Identity |
|
As the City of Mountain View is preparing to debut our refreshed look and feel later this month, here is a sneak peek of the new City logo.
The updated logo pays homage to the current one that was developed in the 1990s and wasn’t designed for digital applications. The new logo features vibrant colors with familiar images of the Santa Cruz Mountains, our 300+ days of sunshine, Mountain View’s shoreline along the San Francisco Bay, and optimistic outlook.
The forthcoming update to the City’s visual identity, including the logo, colors, fonts and more, builds upon the City Council’s adoption of the Strategic Roadmap. These changes reinforce the City’s vision of “a welcoming, vibrant city that plans intentionally and leads regionally to create livable, sustainable neighborhoods, access to nature and open spaces, and a strong innovation-driven local economy.” Input from the community and other stakeholders contributed to modernizing the City’s look and feel.
The City will take a phased approach in incorporating the refreshed look and feel over the coming months. The effort will also include developing a new website this year.

Provide Input on Monta Loma Open Space Improvements |
|
The Mountain View Whisman School District and the City of Mountain View are working together with Carducci Associates to develop and guide the design process for the Monta Loma Outdoor Improvements Project with community input. The goal is to create a comprehensive design that provides for many school and community uses.

Mountain View Gets the Gold for Housing |
|
The County of Santa Clara Public Health Department recognized the City of Mountain View’s efforts to be a healthy community.
County Public Health’s Healthy Cities Dashboard highlighted the City’s accomplishments for our Climate Action Plan meeting current state goals, establishing priority projects to adopt a Safe Gun Storage ordinance and explore alternative mental health crisis response models, and including equity measures in the Vision Zero Action Plan. The City received a medal ranking in five of the nine policy categories including a gold medal for the Housing and Built Environment category.

Library Service Levels Update |

The Mountain View Public Library will begin expanding in-building services in the coming weeks.
- Starting on Sunday, Feb. 13
- Seating.
- Study rooms.
- Newspaper and magazine browsing.
- Regular computer time use.
- Starting on Tuesday, March 1
- Outdoor storytimes and other programs.
- Limited indoor programs with a gradual increase of indoor programs.
- Evening hours on Tuesdays and Wednesdays—open until 9 p.m.

Make a direct impact on your community by serving on the City of Mountain View’s 2022-23 Youth Advisory Committee! Advise City Council and staff on important issues all the while representing your fellow teens and putting your ideas into action. Applications are available online at MountainView.gov/YAC. Completed application packets are due Friday, April 1, 2022 by 5 p.m.
Looking to make an impact while getting volunteer hours? Join junior leaders, junior lifeguards or Deer Hollow Farm interns! The Teen Summer Volunteer Programs are fun, dynamic and skill building programs that combine advanced training with a service opportunity.

The City of Mountain View aquatics team will be hosting swim assessments in February and March to test through the various levels of our swim instruction program and make swim level recommendations. Assessments by appointment only. Proper swimwear is required.

County indoor masking requirements to continue but expected to lift within weeks |
The County of Santa Clara Public Health Department announced on Wednesday, Feb. 9, that it will not lift local indoor masking requirements when the State of California eases its indoor masking requirements mid-next week.
Instead, County Public Health officials said they will continue to base decisions on whether and when to lift indoor masking requirements on risks posed by COVID-19, using defined metrics related to vaccination, hospitalizations and COVID-19 case rates.
The County has already met one of the three metrics for lifting the indoor masking requirement—that 80% of all County residents are fully vaccinated. The two remaining metrics are not yet met.
- COVID-19 hospitalizations in the jurisdiction are low and stable, in the judgment of the health officer; and
- The 7-day average of new cases per day is at or below 550 for at least a week.
County Public Health officials noted they anticipate being able to lift indoor masking requirements in a matter of weeks, as case rates continue to decline.

On Wednesday, Feb. 16, the State is lifting its universal indoor masking requirements. However, State health orders will continue to require universal indoor masking in many settings, including all K-12 schools, childcare facilities, public transit, healthcare facilities, shelters, jails, and long-term care facilities. |

The Mountain View Community Center vaccination site will continue to operate Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through the end of February.
Drop-in vaccinations are available Monday through Thursday at the Community Center, located at 201 S. Rengstorff Ave. Friday and Saturdays are still by appointment only due to higher demand.
