As we move into our 21st year of the Splendor of the East show, we are ready to bring the show back to a live audience! For the first time ever, this yearโs show will be held mid-summer and in an outdoor venue! To celebrate these new beginnings, CAPA would like to involve all of YOU in helping to create our show!
After two long years of lockdowns, uncertainty, fear, and tragedy, it is time to break out of our shells and embrace the new life around us! The world is opening up, and we want the 2022 Splendor of the East to embody that sense of rejuvenation.
The overall theme for the 2022 SOE show will be METAMORPHOSIS. We have come up with the overall theme โ now we want YOU to come up with the showโs tagline -- a phrase that will further define the look, feel, and direction of the show! What do you think of when you think of the word Metamorphosis? What is one line that summarizes the feeling of renewal and rejuvenation? Get your creative juices flowing and fill out the form below to submit YOUR idea for our showโs tagline phrase! The tagline with the most votes will win a very special prize!
Voting closes 3/31/22, so be sure to get your submission in today!

During Connieโs nearly 17 years at Madonna University, she has contributed much to enrich the lives of students. Her accomplishments and contributions include:
- Achieved renewal of the competitive TRIO grant three times, under her leadership as Director of the Center for Personalized Instruction/TRIO, resulting in more than $ 3.6 million in federal grant dollars to provide Madonna students with critical academic support services.
- Earned the role of Vice President of Student Affairs and Mission Integration, distinguishing herself as the first person of color on the Madonna University Presidentโs Cabinet and only woman on executive council.
- As Mission Leader, launched and oversaw the comprehensive mission integration plan for the University as well as encouraged the partnership of all Felician ministries in Livonia
- Contributed to the success of various youth and college student leadership programs including the Felician Sisters of North America Seeds of Hope Youth Leadership Conference, the Bridging Lost Gaps (BLG) program for African American males, and the Mosaic Leadership Academy (MLA) for student leaders.
-
Secured and led the highly competitive U.S. Department of Education Fulbright-Hays grant, and was instrumental in securing the Title III Strengthening Institutions Grant for $2 million and various other funding opportunities. https://www.madonna.edu/news/fulbright-grant.php http://digital.madonna.edu/~mherald/Oct14/title-iii.html
- Co-established the Higher Education Administration (HEA) masterโs program to develop college and university leaders.
-
Created a partnership with the City of Silay in the Philippines which grew into the larges study abroad program in Madonnaโs history. This relationship eventually led to the city of Livonia entering a sister city agreement with Silay: https://www.hometownlife.com/story/news/local/livonia/2019/03/28/livonia-looks-become-sister-city-city-philippines/3286082002/
- Brought statewide and national recognition to Madonna University as supporters of women leaders in higher education through the Michigan American Council on Education (MI-ACE) Womenโs Network (MI-ACE) where she served as annual conference chair for 2019 and 2020, site host for the Young Women, Strong Leaders Conference, and most recently was named State Chair Elect.
Connieโs formation and relationship with the Felician sisters began in first grade at St. Genevieve Catholic Church and School in Livonia, continued to St. Damian Catholic Church and School in Westland, and led her to Ladywood High School, which was located at what now is the Madonna University Performing Arts, Athletic, and Academic Center.
In her new role at the University of Michigan, Connie will be accountable for the performance of approximately 100 employees, a budget of approximately $10 million, and oversight of several programs that have earned national recognition for excellence and contributions to the field.
Please take this opportunity to congratulate and to thank โDr. Connieโ for her many contributions to Madonna University. Information about a University-wide farewell celebration will be forthcoming.
