Dear Hotchkiss Families,

Thank you to those of you who joined us last Monday for our Family COVID Conversation, during which we shared updates on COVID safety and student life on campus.

Today I write with results from last week's round of our new pooled-saliva testing. All students and student-facing employees participated, and all tested negative. We made no major changes to safety practices or protocols last week, but we will continue to review as winter athletics and activities get going, and as we begin to spend more time indoors. Please see the Campus Report Card for more information about current protocols.

While we are grateful that there is no sign of the virus on campus, there are some bleak trends we are watching, particularly the steep and persistent increase in local, state, and national COVID infection rates. We will continue to attend to basic safety protocols on campus, and to conduct our weekly testing regimen to monitor community health. We know more than ever how interdependent we all are, and I remain deeply grateful for the good care our students and community members are taking of themselves and each other. We send our heartfelt thanks to you, too, for all the support you are providing.

Sincerely,

Richard H. Davis Jr.
Associate Dean of Faculty
COVID Coordinator
