Your Narragansett School System Guide
We're So Proud of Your Hard Work!

After several weeks of distance learning, we could not be more proud of our students and families. Not only have you worked with us to improve learning each week, but you also take part in so many virtual activities like Spirit Week, the NHS Mariner Challenge, and sending in your own pictures and videos of what you've been doing! We have some additional activities coming up, which you can find in the below newsletter.

We want to thank you for continuing to represent our district with pride and hard work. We know this isn't easy, but our school community is making it possible to continue with studies while keeping our Mariner spirit stronger than ever.

We will continue to update you on what's to come through emails, our website, on social media, and in our newsletters consistently so please be sure to follow along! Stay safe, enjoy this weekend and know that our entire district staff remains working together to evolve distance learning and make it as impactful and fun as possible!

Take Our Student Survey

As we continue Distance Learning together, we want to check-in on how you as a student are experiencing the program, what continues to work, what is not working as well and any suggestions or thoughts you may have on how we can help make this program even more effective and successful.

Please fill out the below anonymous survey for your school to help us do so. Thank you!
Grab and Go Reminder

Breakfast and lunch are still available to students on a “grab and go basis.”

Location: Narragansett High School, 245 South Pier Road
Time: Between 10:00am-11:00am

This service is available free of charge to all Rhode Island students who are 18 and under no matter where they may reside.

When picking up, you do not have to leave your car as NHS will have two staff members in front of high school providing drive-up service.
Library Curbside Pick Up!

We're still in the middle of the Rhode Island Department of Education's RI Reads at Home initiative!

If you're looking for new books to read, the Maury Loontjens Memorial Library is providing curbside pickup.

From 10-2pm Monday- Saturday, they will fulfill requests for anyone willing to pickup outside the library door.

If you would like to take advantage of this, they ask that you call 789-9507 to speak to someone or leave a message with your name, phone number and what your book request is. Requests can also be emailed to info@narlib.org.
Our Community is a Strong One

We continue to work with the Jonnycake Center to help support our entire community. They have some helpful and wonderful updates that we are happy to share below.

A Message from Jonnycake Center:
Since schools closed four weeks ago, we have had 930 individual visits for our school vacation meals program. We provided enough food for 9,300 breakfasts and lunches. Our pantry had another 1,190 visits by individuals for their regular monthly shopping. This included more than 70 people who have signed up for help for the first time. THANKS TO YOU...we have provided tens of thousands of pounds of food to all who need it. Your donations of food and funds are having a tremendous impact.

Senior Project Update

We know many of our Seniors have been working hard on their Senior Projects.

After many meetings and discussions, the school has modified Senior Project requirements to help seniors as they deal with the disruption caused by COVID-19 and the switch to distance learning.

Seniors and their parents should have received an email directly regarding the changes about submissions and timelines. If you have not received, please connect with the main office or John O'Brien.

In addition, we're sad to share that Senior Project Presentation Day is cancelled this year but will be back next year!

FFA Shows Behind the Scenes

Our Narragansett FFA students continue their studies through hard work at farms while showcasing their efforts!

In this video, students Hannah and Abby Foster are demonstrating their passion of how to show a dairy cow. Abby talks about techniques you can use in order to win your class while Hannah holds her cow Rylee. Later, Abby explains how to tie a knot in order to keep the cow from escaping. Great job to our students!
