Early Literacy

Children develop reading skills are very different rates.  Some learn to read by 3 and others not until 1st grade.  It can feel that your child is behind but literacy development is unique to each child just as development in other areas is unique.  Below are some ways to continue to support your child's development in literacy.  Enjoy and make it fun!  
Read Everything!

Predictable Books



Christmas Care will be offered over the Christmas Break.  Forms are due on 12/13/19.   They are located in the office, outside of classrooms and in the Extended Day room upstairs.

 
Santa will be here on December 18th in the morning.  If your child is afraid of Santa, please let us know so we can support the child at the level that is needed.  Each child will have an opportunity to meet Santa and have a picture.  If you indicated that your child is not permitted to have photos taken for media purposes and you have changed your mind, please let us know since we will post those who have permission on our facebook page.
With the increase in tablets, phone games and other technology, children have not had the exposure to games and activities that develop fine motor skills needs for writing and self-help tasks.  With Christmas approaching, this is a great time to get your child inexpensive and fun gifts that focus on developing these very important muscles in the fingers, hands and wrists!  















Ms. Jeanette's & Ms. Miranda's class will be collecting items to benefit Nature's Nursery!  Please see list posted outside of their classroom & on the Parent Boards in Ext Day & outside of the office.  Collection runs December 2- Dec 20th

School Cancellations and Delays & Notifications

  1. Look for "Washington Local" delays or closings on the news or via news station alerts.  
  2. Sign up for Remind to have alerts sent to you via text or email about delays/closings,  event reminders like picture day, field trips, special activities etc.                                              
  3.. Check FB for updates
                      
*Remind will also be used to notify you if there is an emergency or concern that you need to be made aware of immediately.
