THE CONFIDENCE TO FLY
Devan Gregori ‘06 says that her time at O’Dowd instilled her with the belief in herself to build her own fashion line. “O’Dowd pushed me beyond my limit, giving me a safe space to explore. My O’Dowd support system, from the Mock Trial Team, to my friends and mentors, allowed me to leave home and see the world. I studied fashion in France, worked for a designer in Mexico City, and spent time making drag costumes." visit devangregori.com

O'DOWD STUDENTS LEAD
Our very own Sariyah Shabazz '21 and Liana Parrish '21 gave presentations last month at the Oakland Youth Town Hall, to an audience of Mayor Libby Schaaf, OUSD Superintendent Kayla Trammell, and Chief of Violence Prevention Guillermo Cespedes. They each highlighted how trauma and mental health challenges make students vulnerable to the criminal justice system, and called for increased school and community resources to empower students and support them to realize their potential. We are so proud of their outstanding leadership.
MAKING O'DOWD STRONGER
Over 99 students and faculty gathered virtually this month for the Advanced Leaders Retreat. Members of our Associated Student Body, Campus Ministry Team, Peer Tutors, Solidarity in Action, Eco Leaders, and Dragon Ambassadors made ambitious plans to serve and strengthen our learning community. Our opening Mass of the Holy Spirit will have the theme: Rainbow after the Storm.
GETTING CREATIVE
Our art students received robust art supply packages from the crafty Art Department, so they can keep perfecting their talents and making beautiful and thought-provoking art this fall.
