Honoring
Former Councilwoman, Rosie Mendez
Hon. Rosie Mendez

Rosie's steadfast support and heart for the Loisaida community, her early actions that helped save Loisaida, Inc. and her belief and investment in Loisaida's vision and future is what has made El Semillero possible.

Our new Councilwoman Carlina Rivera will be with with us to help present this well-deserved recognition.

Also Honoring:
Rolando Politi, Local Artist

Rolando is an original maker. You may recognize his work dressed throughout our neighborhood, most visibly on the fence of La Plaza Cultural. We honor the Italian-born artist for his contributions to sustainability through art and for the impact of his work that shift perceptions of 'waste' and transform consumer culture.

We are proud to honor EcoKit Puerto Rico, a creative disaster relief solution organization, started last year by Jeca Rodriguez, alumna of Loisaida's  Artist-in-Residency  program.  "We really want to change the way aid is given. We want to not only help in the short-term, but prepare Puerto Rico for the future," said Jeca Rodriguez in an interview with the Manhattan Times.
