PCC participates in Greenville
Road Safety Audit
We recently traveled to Greenville and participated in a Road Safety Audit for Cedar Lane and Pete Hollis Road, one of Greenville's most dangerous corridors , to make recommendations to improve bike and pedestrian safety.

SCDOT's new non-motorized highway safety program is funded at $5Million annually, and was partly an advocacy success of PCC and our facilitated SC Livable Communities Alliance. The funds support the Road Safety Audits in the near future and ultimately infrastructure in the long run.
THANK YOU, members!
We'd like to extend a sincere THANK YOU to the membership of the Palmetto Cycling Coalition.
SCDOT describes developing the
Bike-Ped Safety Action Plan
Our Alliance efforts advocating to the SCDOT are paying off. SCDOT Transportation Secretary Hall and Commission Chair Robbins spoke about development of the new Bike-Ped Safety Action Plan. Still in the works, this will guide SCDOT in a research-based, analytical, not political comprehensive strategy to reduce SC's bike and pedestrian crashes. YouTube link HERE.

NEW Bridge!
In case you haven't heard..

The U.S. Department of Transportation awarded Charleston an $18.1 million BUILD grant for a stand-alone bicycle and pedestrian bridge that would be built just south of the twin U.S. Highway 17 drawbridges. The federal money promises to fulfill more than a decade-long struggle to create a safe route across the Ashley River comparable to the 12-foot-wide Wonders Way bike-ped path on the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge across the Cooper River. USDOT received over 200 letters of support for the bridge. More here .
