Now, more than ever, our BJBE community needs to come together virtually. Our
BJBE Community Facebook Group (members-only)
is that place for connection - share a funny story, a recipe that you are making for dinner, a way to help through social action, etc. Anyone is free to post announcements, questions, thoughts, etc., but please make sure your posts are relevant to our BJBE community. (Our public Facebook page is still the place to watch live content, see our most recent BJBE connects, and more - be sure to like our page so you don't miss out!)
An important note: This Facebook forum is not a marketplace; please do not list property or commercial business- we want this group to be about giving not selling. Any questions about our Facebook group? Contact

Project Nourish Update | Message from Merilee Waldron and Rachel Tzinberg
In these challenging times, we were still able to provide for our Project Nourish recipients. Thank you to Rachel and Abby Tzinberg who were able to procure and deliver all of the supplies needed to Bethlehem Healing Temple, where we usually bring our lunches. The church members made and distributed the lunches and also brought extra lunches to people who are homeless. Recipients were very appreciative that they were able to have food and grateful that we cared.
As circumstances have changed drastically, we know this will not be possible in the future until we are back to normal. The consortium of temples to which we belong for Project Nourish is now discussing alternative ways to bring food to our recipients. We will keep you updated.
We are so appreciative of the interest and caring of our members who have reached out to see how they can help. There are two ways:
- Baking cookies -Please follow precautions by washing your hands and wearing gloves if you have them. No nuts, please. Bag 2 cookies each in small ziplock bags so we can easily include them in the lunches and store in your home freezers until BJBE reopens and then they can be brought in to our freezer. Write "Project Nourish" on your bag or container for the BJBE freezer. Bake as many as you would like, no requirements on amount.
- Donating to the Bob Terry Project Nourish Fund - Especially in the near future, we will need more funds to underwrite the alternative methods of food delivery for our recipients. Every contribution will help us get food to those that depend on us.

In Gratitude | Message from Julie Goynshor
On behalf of the Purim Carnival Committee, we want to thank everyone for making this year’s family Purim celebration such a success. From our amazing education director, to the volunteers and the children, we could not have done it without you! We also want to thank our amazing cantors, our adult and teen musicians, and Kol Simchah (our Junior choir) for the inspiring Grease Schpiel. The energy and talent was unbelievable! The schpiel and the carnival allow everyone to come together in a happy, relaxed atmosphere. We hope that the children had fun and can see our synagogue not just as a spiritual home but also as a community with love and laughter. We are also very proud to let everyone know that we raised $2500 that will be donated to the teen trip to Kolin & Israel. I am so proud to be a part of the BJBE family.

JLC B'Bayit (JLC at Home) | Missy Bell, RJE, Director of Education
|
|
This week, we will be offering
Pop Up JLC
on Tuesday and Wednesday at 4:30pm (Hebrew focused, but appropriate for all ages) and on Sunday at 9:30am. You can join us on Facebook Live by liking the
Congregation BJBE Facebook Page
.
You can also join us directly on Zoom:
Here are some activities you can do at home throughout the week:
- Watch this week's Torah portion on Bimbam. This week, we begin the book of Leviticus, or Vayikra. After watching the brief video, discuss:
- Sacrifices were a way of saying "I'm sorry." How do you say you're sorry if you do something wrong?
- Today, prayer has replaced sacrifice the main way of feeling close to God. How does prayer make us feel close to God? What else can we do to feel close to God?
- Try out different charoset recipes as you get ready for Passover! Many of us who come from Ashkenazic (eastern European) backgrounds make charoset with apples, chopped walnuts, and wine - but did you know there are different kinds of charoset from all over the world? Several of these are allergy-friendly and nut-free!
