MSHP Board of Managers Spotlight: Dr. Arvind Kamthan
Meet our newly elected Mount Sinai Health Partners’ Board Member, Arvind Kamthan, MD. Dr. Kamthan is a member of MSHP’s clinically integrated network and practices at Mount Sinai Brooklyn Infusion Center. We recently caught up with Dr. Kamthan to learn more about him as he begins his journey as an MSHP Board member!
What do you like most about serving on MSHP's Board of Managers?
I like that I am able to promote the goals of the Mount Sinai Health System.
What do you hope to accomplish while serving on MSHP's Board of Managers?
I'd like to contribute my experience in health care to help support Mount Sinai Health Partners’ population health management goals. I have been in practice in the medical field for over 20 years in both academic and private practice settings. Currently, I am the Site Chief for Hematology and Medical Oncology at Mount Sinai Brooklyn. Prior to joining Mount Sinai, I held faculty appointments in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine, the University of Connecticut, and West Virginia University.
What are your interests/hobbies outside of work?
I enjoy playing tennis.

Welcome Centivo Patients at Your Practice
Remember that MSHP contracted with Centivo for all providers in MSHP’s Clinically Integrated Network (CIN). New Centivo members may be contacting your practice for appointments, so please be sure that your practice staff are aware that you accept Centivo insurance. Your 2022 quarterly care coordination payments will now include PMPM payments for Centivo-attributed patients.

Public Health Emergency Extended Through April 16, 2022
HHS has extended the PHE another 90 days, now expiring April 16, 2022. Consequently, Medicare FFS telehealth waivers and other waivers will remain in effect. Read the declaration. It may be extended further at the discretion of HHS.

Updates to Cigna's COVID-19 Coverage and Q1 Network News
Cigna has shared updates on cost-share waivers, OTC COVID tests, and COVID treatments. Visit Cigna's dedicated COVID-19 provider web page to learn more.
Cigna has also shared their Q1 2022 edition of Network News which includes Cigna's centers of excellence, Z code billing information, HEDIS data collection for 2022, and more.

EmblemHealth Suspends Utilization Review Requirements for Inpatient Transfer Discharges & Extends LabCorp Relationship to Include All Members
EmblemHealth is waiving facility authorizations for in-network inpatient-to-inpatient transfers, or inpatient to post-acute care transfers, including skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), acute rehabilitation, Long Term Acute Care Hospitals (LTAC), etc. EmblemHealth is also waiving authorizations for ambulance charges for the associated transfer from the inpatient facility to another inpatient facility, or from an inpatient facility to a post-acute care facility. Titrating Neurohormonal Antagonists in Patients with Heart Failure
It is recommended that only one of the neurohormonal antagonist (Beta-blocker, ACE, ARB, ARNI, Aldosterone antagonist) be increased at each visit. If the patient is hemodynamically stable, it is generally acceptable to double the dose of these agents when escalating the dose.

Good Faith Estimates Now Required
As part of the Federal No Surprises Act, health care providers and facilities are required to provide patients with a plain-language consumer estimate (Good Faith Estimate) detailing the cost of services to be rendered by the provider effective January 1, 2022. Providers and facilities must present written and oral cost estimates to uninsured and self-pay patients. Learn more about what's required. Post this patient flyer in your office.
