Meetings with Mayor Walsh

BSAC had two productive meetings with Mayor Marty Walsh last week.

BSAC members engaged with the Mayor by sharing their experiences with the student walkout, putting forth their vision for youth voice, discussing climate justice, and stating their priorities for the coming year, which include:
  • Community Choice Energy
  • Preventing School Closures
  • Counselors Not Cops, and
  • Student Vote on the School Committee
We look forward to meeting with the Mayor again and continuing these discussions.

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Testimony,
News Coverage & Community Conversation

BSAC/YOB submitted a letter and provided testimony to the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The letter was signed on by over a dozen organizations supporting our efforts to include School Climate as an indicator of student success in the state's ESSA implementation plan.  Read the article in the  Boston Herald which features BSAC/YOB.

If you have interest in participating in this process, there is still time, please reach out to us or attend an ESSA community discussion YOB is co-hosting on  February 11th at Northeastern University
