A Message from the Principal
Rest in Peace, Sister Catherine Sheehy
Our beloved Sister Catherine Sheehy, first principal of All Saints Catholic School, has gone to her eternal rest just shy of her 97th birthday.

Thousands of students in Norwalk were touched by her leadership as principal of St. Philip School and then at All Saints from 1990 until her retirement in 2006. Her legacy of loving kindness will live on in the hearts of her students forever. May she rest in God’s eternal peace.
Pray the Rosary
October is the month of the Most Holy Rosary. The feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is October 7. The Rosary is a prayer to remind us that Jesus loved us so much that he died on the cross for us. The rosary tells the story of Jesus’ life in four parts:

The Joyful Mysteries
The Sorrowful Mysteries
The Glorious Mysteries
The Luminous Mysteries

We pray a decade of the rosary as a school community every morning throughout the month. Each time we pray the rosary we focus on Jesus’ life as well as a special person or intention that we want to pray for. I encourage you to pray the rosary as a family during this special month.
Get Your Pink and Jeans On!
Please join the faculty, staff and students of All Saints Catholic School on Friday, October 16 as we participate in National Denim Day for the 10th year! All donations will go directly to the American Cancer Society to support Breast Cancer research, free mammograms, intervention and family support services. Our ASCS family has been affected by this horrible disease, and yours might be as well. Together we can make a difference!

Requested student donation is $2 payable on October 16 at the door upon arrival at school. Donations can also be made online through this website
Technology Reminder
Technology Reminder: Parents need to be vigilant and monitor their child's social media and google docs accounts. It is a good idea to have all of your child's phone messages and/or texts forwarded to your phone for monitoring. Check daily! Technology is moving quickly; not all students are mature enough to handle it. Please visit the school website and check the school handbook for school policies in regard to social media and Internet Use.
Summer Uniform Ends October 16
The last day for the optional summer uniform shorts and wearing gym clothing daily will be Friday, October 16. Unless you have PE class, all students need to be in their full uniforms on Monday, October 19. Please check the school handbook to be sure you are in compliance with the proper clothing, shoes, hair style, length and color and accessories.
School Photo Day
Individual and Group photos are on October 20-21. Students may wear their “dress up” clothing on picture day this year. Parents who choose to have photos taken in the school uniform are welcome to send their children to school on picture day in their uniforms. There are no group photos being taken this year. Students in grade 8 need to follow the directions on the photo flyer for yearbook photos.
Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for? (Audience) Why should they care? (Benefit) What do I want them to do here? (Call-to-Action)

Create a great offer by adding words like "free" "personalized" "complimentary" or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
Ways to Get involved
Research from the National Coalition for Parent Involvement in Education shares that “no matter their income or background, students with involved parents are more likely to have higher grades and test scores, attend school regularly, have better social skills, show improved behavior and adapt well to school.”Nov 18, 2019

As with many things this year, parent involvement looks a little different. But there are still many ways to become engaged with our school and we encourage you to become an informed and engaged member of our community. Click on the image below to discover ways to get involved.

Parent Portal and Communication
All third through eighth grade parents should be viewing their child's grades regularly on the school's Rediker Parent Plus Portal. An email and link was sent to all families at the beginning of the school year. The portal serves as the vehicle of communication between you and the teacher. If you have a question about a score on an assessment, please ask your son or daughter about it first, then email the teacher. If you are not able to access the school portal, please contact the school office for assistance.

Parents of students in grades PK - 2 can contact the teachers directly for questions concerning daily and weekly assessments. Papers at these grade levels are sent home weekly.

When you see the school phone number come up, please answer your phone. All parents are asked to have their cell phones nearby and turned on during the school day just in case of an emergency or unplanned early dismissal. Please be certain that you have a contingency plan for pick up for your child on such days and that your child knows what it is.
Principal's Office Hours
Have a question? Need to vent? Just need to talk? Principal’s Office hours: Every Tuesday 12:30-1:00. Give me a call!
Schedule Reminders
October 9 is an early dismissal day for all students. This is an in-service day for the faculty. Dismissal is at 11:15AM for preschool and 11:45AM for grades K-8. Please be on time for pick up. The extended day program will be available for working parents until 5:45 PM.

No school on October 12! Enjoy the long fall weekend

Until next time.... God bless!
