The reason for seeking out SBDC Services:
Clients needed general assistance in growing their business from a single-person operation to investing in a shop and adding multiple crew members. They also wanted assistance with marketing.

The SBDC provided advice on staffing, creating standard operating procedures, and getting through the changes in operations due to the pandemic. “There are so many aspects besides just providing services to a business that we wanted to make sure we weren't missing anything. Running a business can be overwhelming and challenging at times and we needed a guide to help us make sure we were staying on the right track.

Our SBDC Advisor has helped us in so many different ways from managing employees to developing better marketing strategies.”

Hollister Montessori School

The reason for seeking out SBDC Services:
Hollister Montessori School was forced to close its doors on March 16, 2020. They had received tuition for the month of March and were able to pay the staff for that month. They had to furlough their hourly staff and pivot to distance learning with their preschool and elementary students. Because of the situation, they reduced tuition for the next two months and did not require families to pay the final (10th) tuition payment. Keeping up with payroll, rent, utilities, etc., took all their available funds.

They worked with Cal Coastal SBDC Consultant Favian Rodriguez. He helped them understand the EIDL &PPP programs and how and where to apply, including ongoing support during the process to include loan forgiveness information. “We are very grateful for this program. It kept our school afloat during very difficult times.” – Ginger Loebeck
