Historical Masonry Workshop Recordings Available
|
Recordings of a workshop on Historical Masonry are now available on the TMS website. This program is intended for those assessing, purchasing, stabilizing, or renovating existing buildings (especially historic buildings) with masonry walls. Topics include building code evaluation of existing buildings, moisture and energy performance, masonry crack repair, strengthening masonry, and more. The 6 hour program is split into 14 parts, which can be purchased individually or together at a 25% discount. TMS Members also receive an additional 25% discount.
Proceeds are donated to the Clayford T. Grimm, P.E. Student Scholarship.
The workshop was presented April 2013 at the University of Texas - Brownsville Campus. Speakers include Alan Pettingale, Andreas Stavridis, Benchmark Harris, Michael Schuller, and Gordon Shepperd.

The Masonry Society (TMS) is pleased to announce that all past peer-reviewed papers appearing in TMS Journal and the proceedings of the North American Masonry Conference (NAMC) can be searched here, and TMS Members have complimentary access to the more than 1600 titles in the database. The Masonry Society (TMS) is accepting applications for the Clayford T. Grimm P.E. Student Scholarship until July 31, 2020.
The Clayford T. Grimm P.E. Student Scholarship was established in 2007 to honor the memory of Clayford T. Grimm. This Scholarship is awarded every year to a Master's level graduate student who is conducting research in masonry. The investigation can be in masonry materials, structures, construction, or architecture and must be performed under the direction of a member of The Masonry Society. The current value of the annual scholarship is $1,000 US. C

2020 Structures Congress that will be held in St. Louis. Missouri from April 5-8. The Masonry Society is again serving as a Cooperating organization for the Structures Congress, and will present the following session on Monday, April 6, 2020 from 1:30 until 3 pm.

Solution Manual for Masonry Structures, Behavior & Design
|
Dr. Ahmad Hamid has released a Solution Manual for faculty teaching masonry using the new Masonry Structures: Behavior & Design. Solutions of selected problems from the 8 main design chapters are presented. This manual is for instructors who teach masonry courses at the undergraduate or graduate level. Design problems are solved using TMS 402-16 code provisions. Problems are selected to reflect understanding of major concepts of design of unreinforced and reinforced concrete and clay masonry walls.
This Solution Manual is provided as a complimentary pdf to educators using the book for their class when a letter is provided by the professor on University letterhead requesting it, and noting that it will not be distributed.
