Dear Friends and Neighbors:

If you were damaged in any way by Hurricane Harvey please fill out the Harvey Recovery Survey. I understand the frustration at filling out another type of application, but there is some money available. I am aware there will not be full compensation, but something is better than nothing. 

Earlier this week I joined Director Tom McCasland, Housing and Community Development Department (HCDD), to deliver a reimbursement check to a family in District G. This shows reimbursement checks are coming to households in priority groups 5 and 6. ( CLICK HERE for a visualization of the priority groups). It just takes time. I also had the opportunity to chat with this family and they did admit that it was a long and frustrating process, but said it was worth it in the end.



Almost 20,000 households have responded to the survey, 16,400 of those are interested in the Homeowners Assistance Program (HoAP).  However, only 1,828 District G homeowners have filled out the survey.  Compared with the amount of devastation I witnessed throughout District G this number is shockingly low. So again I ask you to please fill out the survey if you have not already. There are funds available and every little bit counts!

I am aware this is a painfully slow process. The best advice I can give you is to be patient and not lose hope, and to encourage your friends and family who are also waiting for recovery assistance to persevere. If you still have issues the District G office is just a phone call or email away and is always here to help. 

DEADLINE FOR REPAIRS: Homeowners must complete repairs that could be eligible for reimbursement by December 31, 2019. This deadline is for repairs only, you can still apply to the program after December 31 to receive reimbursement for work completed before that date.   CLICK HERE  for the survey. All repairs must be completed before submitting an application (this is the next step after the survey). You will not be reimbursed for repairs that are completed beyond this point.
