Back to School:
Tips to Ensure Your Children are Safe
As many are aware, as our children head back to school this Fall, new procedures will be implemented. Familiarize yourself with how your child's school will handle daily routines, and provide personal distancing, hand washing, temperature taking, etc.
Some additional items to put in the backpack:
- A personal, clean, well-fitting and comfortable face mask
- Personal hand sanitizer and bottle of water
Remind your child to wash their hands throughout the day and not touch their faces with dirty hands. It may be a good idea to reinforce that they should not share food or drink with their friends. Have them wash their hands upon returning home from school and if their face mask is cloth, wash it each day.
Familiarize yourself with your local COVID-19 testing sites in the event you or your child develop symptoms. Some sites may include free testing.
Ways to Support Your Children
2. Reassure your child that they are safe. Let them know it is okay if they feel upset. Share with them how you deal with your own stress so that they can learn from you how to cope with stress. 3. Limit your family's exposure to news coverage, including social media. Children may misinterpret what they hear and become frightened about something they don't understand. 4. Try to keep up with regular routines. If schools are online or closed, create a schedule for learning activities and relaxing or fun activities. 5. Be a role model. Take breaks, get plenty of sleep, exercise, and eat well. Connect with your friends and family members. 6. Allocate time with your family. Take a walk, ride a bike, read together, exercise, and play board games.

Children's Place Stores Makes Generous Donation of Back-to-School Outfits.
A big Thank You goes to the Children's Place stores of Dover and Rehoboth Beach.
The stores generously donated 30 boxes of brand new children's clothing. Qualified families with school-age children can now receive "back-to-school" outfits.
Until the Thrift Center reopens for retail, Catholic Charities will distribute the new clothes to families in our Food Assistance program when they come to pick up their food.

Shout-out to CCUSA:
Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), was the recipient of 2,100 lbs. of cheese! The cheese was donated by a Wisconsin member of the Dairy Pricing Association; a grassroots dairy farmer organization.
CCUSA coordinated the effort by referring the donation to our Seton Center office and then paying for the cheese to be processed into 1lb. bags of shredded cheese. Flexport donated transit costs to transport the cheese to New Jersey for processing, and then for delivery to Catholic Charities Seton Center, in Princess Anne, MD.
A very special thank you to CCUSA, Dairy Pricing Association and Flexport for their generous donations! They've helped Catholic Charities continue to serve over 8,600 individuals and families in our community.
