Dear Bet Torah Family:

Seders were truly different this year. We were not able to be with the people we are normally with and we were able virtually to be with people we never thought we could. This different time continues to be both heartbreaking and inspiring.

On the first day of Passover I talked about the fact that in America we too often rush past complicated, difficult experiences with a shrug and an "It's all good." What we need is the conversation the seder encourages us to have where we break the middle matzah and admit that things are broken and we will not find the afikomen until we talk about it. I invite you to read my sermon  Breaking Open

We are so proud of our Caring Committee and families who delivered and funded the making of Kosher for Passover meals and seder plates for families who are ill, particularly isolated or in mourning. Thank you Chef René Leon and Sarah Stern Leon for cooking all those meals and then delivering meals and seder plates to Northern Westchester Hospital so that staff working through the holiday could enjoy as well. Thanks to all for making sure that kol dichfin, all who are hungry may come and eat this Passover.

Chef Rene's Shabbat meal program is now open to all congregants to order for you and your family to enjoy. If you would like to order meals please fill out this form

And every week our Caring Committee will be delivering meals to families in our community.  If you would like to volunteer or contribute to the Caring Committee's meal program you can find out more here
