Dear JKHA/RKYHS Families,

The daily COVID related questions we receive reflect our collective commitment to community well-being. It is gratifying and validating that JKHA/RKYHS families continuously demonstrate their commitment to one another through their behavior and by self-reporting COVID related concerns.

As families prepare for our school break in January, we wanted to make clear that we intend to return to in-school learning immediately upon the break's conclusion, and to adhere to our planned school calendar, with only one modification.

Please note the following change: Winter break will begin on Friday, January, 22nd and in-school learning is scheduled to resume for the spring term on Tuesday, February 2nd. This represents a one-day delay both to the beginning and end of the break.

The safest way to welcome back our students, faculty and staff after the break is to conduct screening tests before their return to the building, as we did after the Thanksgiving weekend. The schedule change is designed to enable a drive-by screening on Sunday, January 31st, and to process the pools on Monday, February 1st. A follow up email will explain in more detail how the process will work.

The pool screening is intended only for families who are not otherwise mandated to quarantine after winter break. By way of illustration, families that travel beyond New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Delaware will be required to adhere to the NJ mandate to self-quarantine upon their return. Please inform your division head as soon as possible if your plans will require quarantine after the January vacation break, so as to best position us for a smooth resumption of in-school learning.

We hope that you are able to spend quality and meaningful time with your family over winter vacation. However, regardless of where you will be for the January vacation, we urge you to remember your responsibility to our community and our collective health.

Please remember that one family's decisions do, in fact, impact all of us. Thank you for partnering with us to maintain our high standards of COVID-19 prevention protocols.
