Grace and peace!
This Sunday is a special day in the Christian faith. Sunday, April 5, is Palm Sunday and the first day of Holy Week. Two of the most important events in the Bible will be remembered next week—the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus. With so much going on in our personal lives and in our world, we need Holy Week more than ever. Be sure to participate in this week's 4x40 devotions by using your guide or downloading the daily reading plan from the website. I encourage you to reach out to another disciple and reflect on God’s word together.
Here’s our Worship and Midday Prayer schedule for next week:
Palm Sunday, April 5
8:00 AM and 10:30 AM
3:00 PM Worship service will be rebroadcast on Spectrum Channel 24
Midday Prayer, April 6-10
Monday-Friday 12:30 PM
I continue to be so proud and grateful for our church family. We are praying for each other, studying God’s word together, worshipping, adapting to new circumstances, and being consistent financial supporters despite everything going on around us. Sunday School and Bible Study continue to thrive. The Trustee and Diaconate Ministries have provided much needed encouragement and leadership.
Please call the church office at (919) 688-1304 if you or another UBC disciple need necessities such as food or medicine. Several disciples have offered to help with this effort. Until we meet again, know that God is still love. The joy of Easter is that God raises dead things back to life. As we continue to grapple with our inability to gather for worship and fellowship, enjoy this meditation on
how to be present when we must be socially distant
.
In faith, hope and love,
Pastor Rivers
