MOUNTING LOSSES FOR NATION'S ARTS DOCUMENTED
|
Americans for the Arts (AFTA) has reported the latest results from its ongoing survey, The Economic Impact of Coronavirus on the Arts & Culture Sector, to capture coronavirus-related economic impact reports from artists, arts organizations, and arts agencies of all types, genres, sizes, and tax statuses. If you have an impact to report--lost income, attendance, or other impacts--please do so by following this link. AFTA is keeping the survey open and updating the data as conditions evolve. The results were discussed in a conference call to 1,000 participants nationwide yesterday, and formed the basis for the arts community's request to Congress for $4 billion in relief as part of the CARES Act signed last week, which allotted $75 million in emergency funding to the National Endowment for the Arts for distribution. Continued advocacy is under way for the anticipated next federal relief package.
