University Updates to Pass/Fail
& Last Day to Withdraw
UConn is providing flexibility for students and its schools and colleges at the Storrs and regional campuses regarding taking spring 2020 undergraduate courses on a pass/fail basis. Students may now elect pass/fail grading or drop a course at any time by the last day of classes (May 1), but should consult with their advisors first.

Carl W. Lejuez Selected as UConn’s New Provost
\President Katsouleas announced our new chief academic officer will be Carl Lejuez, who joins us from the University of Kansas with a long and strong history of academic excellence, collaboration, and advocacy. A first generation college student with a liberal arts background, we are thrilled to welcome Lejuez to #UConnNation and are excited to get him involved with our programs!

Residential Life

Roommate selection is now open, and Learning Community Housing Selection will take place on April 9 and 10.

Students who lived in Storrs and Stamford student housing before the university shifted operations due to the pandemic have been provided guidance on next steps , and a list of FAQs to help with specific questions. Students remaining on campus are also reminded not to congregate in groups in keeping with social distancing guidelines, and that for security reasons, students, staff and others should not prop doors open in the residence halls.

The Office of Undergraduate Research has developed an informational webpage to address common questions and concerns faced by undergrads and their faculty mentors.
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS)

ISSS has published a list of Frequently Asked Questions that we receive from international students, scholars and OPT participants related to visa issues, ISSS operations and remote learning/work due to COVID-19. This will be updated continuously as information changes. This information may also be helpful for academic staff and faculty who have questions related to their international advisees.

The University Scholar Program has adopted significant changes to the application process for the 2020 application cycle. The new application will require a more detailed overall statement of interests and learning plan, in addition to the project proposal. The new application will also require two faculty to complete a faculty evaluation form. Details of the changes can be found at the University Scholar website.
Werth Innovators
Call for Next Cohort of Rising Sophomores

The Werth Institute is seeking current freshman year students interested in being selected to the third cohort of Werth Innovators. It will consist of 15 students entering their sophomore year in the fall of 2020. Key characteristics include having a passion for creativity and innovation, searching for solutions to everyday problems, or a desire to be a leader in initiating new programs or opportunities for like-minded students. The Werth Institute will invest in the development of Werth Innovators during sophomore year with the intention that they become ambassadors for the program during subsequent years.

Nominees should also have a demonstrated understanding of and participation in fostering staff team spirit; and support for the RLM, while also balancing academic success and the highest commitment to the S/RA position.
