News: CGIAR Research Program on Wheat
Legacy website and photo exhibition mark the closing of the CGIAR Research Program on Wheat, and its impact on sustainable agricultural development.

From 2012-2022, WHEAT assisted with breeding research that led to the release of 880 wheat varieties in
59 countries.
DNA fingerprinting maps wheat variety adoption across Nepal and Bangladesh
News: BGRI
For the first time, extensive studies using DNA fingerprinting technologies are revealing granular detail about the kinds of wheat growing in Nepal and Bangladesh and providing insights to boost the productivity of this crucial food security crop.

Conducted by researchers from Cornell University, Sathguru Management Consultants, and National Agricultural Research Centers in Bangladesh and Nepal, the studies not only helped identify the popular varieties but also uncovered the widespread use of older and in some cases decommissioned varieties.
Opportunities
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology
Five positions at PhD or Postdoc level have become available in the group of Prof. Brande Wulff in the Center for Desert Agriculture at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia. The Wulff group studies the structure, function, evolution, and mechanism of disease resistance in wild relatives of wheat, with the aim of engineering this resistance into bread wheat.
University of Idaho
Research Scientist II
Lead and execute a NIFA-AFRI funded project to fine-mapping and characterize candidate genes controlling resistance genes to two destructive fungal diseases of wheat; validate the candidate genes using CRISPR-CAS system, RenSeq, and next generation sequencing (NGS) data.
