BOTTOMLINE THIS WEEK:
To help students understand that practicing silence and solitude will heighten their spiritual senses.

Mark 1:35-38
Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray.  36  Later Simon and the others went out to find him.  37  When they found him, they said, “Everyone is looking for you.”  38  But Jesus replied, “We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too. That is why I came.”
All other scripture references in this lesson:
John 8:28; 2 Corinthians 13:5; Romans 5:8; Ephesians 2:10

“Beauty for Ashes”  may just be my enneagram 7 coming out, but either way I feel strongly about what is being handed to us. Yes, there are many good things that we are unable to do right now, believe me I feel those with you. However there are many things that are a gift. There are way less things fighting for your time and attention! This means, more than any other time, that our time with God is not up against a world full of distractions! There are still a few yes, but way way less than ever before in our lives! Let us take full advantage. This can launch a spiritual awakening faster than anything I have ever lived through. Realize our families, our friends, and our neighbors may even be more open to the gospel during this time of uncertainty. People need hope and good news… that works out because we have it! Hopefully we stay away from being carriers of a virus, but we are carriers of hope! That can be contagious too!
In these verses Jesus didn’t let the noise and direction of the people to distract Him. He got alone with God and then moved to more people who needed to hear the Gospel (good news) of hope and salvation. He models for us the way He knew what He was supposed to do. It was through silence and solitude with the Father. This week our beauty from the ashes are saying let’s follow His lead and take time for silence and solitude. God has a plan and a work for us to do. Let’s go!

CONSIDER ASKING FOR CONVERSATION:

-What did you hear tonight?

-Is silence and solitude something that seems hard to practice in your life (Discuss) ?
(Being still is foreign for most of us! This is what makes social distancing so difficult. Help each other establish their “place” and set it up as an area where silence and solitude happen. Psychology shows that atmosphere plays a very important factor in making this happen on a regular basis.)

-What am I feeling right now that doesn’t line up with God’s word?  (Identify the areas that you believe God’s thoughts and your thoughts may be different. Read scripture for guidance and help each other land in a place where we aren’t living and believing lies.)

-What beauty can you see in the middle of this difficult time?
(Discuss all that you can, but I want to point out that  part of the answer to this is YOU!   The church is beautiful in the middle of this!  We are loving and helping people!

FAMILY QUESTION/CHALLENGE: WHO CAN YOU HELP OR ENCOURAGE TODAY?

WORSHIP:
We create a playlist for each series on Spotify that has songs that go along with our messages!
Our staff has also compiled a playlist of our favorite worship songs for you!

BIBLE PLAN:
We are starting a new Bible plan on Youversion tonight that relates to our new series. Click this link to join our group and read with us!

As a family… use this time of “distancing” to connect. Thank the people in your lives who are people who will love you well. Call out in you the areas that you need correcting! Pray for them and pray to be able to be that kind of person for someone else… pointing others toward Jesus!

THANK YOU FOR TRUSTING US WITH YOUR STUDENTS. WE PRAY THIS NIGHT AND THIS RESOURCE PROVIDES GREAT CONVERSATION THAT POINTS YOU ALL TOWARD CHRIST!
