The Children's Trust is sponsoring a SPARK (Sports, Play, and Active Recreation for Kids) training event at least once every month. The training is for contracted Youth Development K-5 providers using SPARK curriculum for fitness. Watch the Trust Academy LMS Event calendar for future trainings.

  • Innovation Fund: Innovative ideas and program designs that address existing community needs and have not previously been implemented in our community.

UM Team COACH: Communities of Practice Return
Communities of Practice- Join a community where members support one another, share best practices and deepen their knowledge. All of the following CoPs are currently being offered virtually and are appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Parenting Programs. If you have any questions or would like additional support, please contact teamcoach@miami.edu.

Parent and Provider Stressors & Barriers - In this CoP, we will discuss the stressors and barriers that both you as a provider, and the families you serve, face. We will also be identifying solutions, practicing these strategies and discussing the implementation of them into your practice. Click here to sign up or log in to Trust Academy!

Creating Support Networks & Community Outreach/Recruitment -In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to create networks of outreach and referrals across parenting providers in the community and discuss program recruitment strategies. You will have the opportunity to get to know other community providers, share information, and support one another. Virtual recruitment will be an ongoing topic. The New Normal: Returning to In-Person Services during COVID-19 - In this CoP, we will work collaboratively to share ideas and problem-solve strategies for returning to in-person services for group-based, home-based, and office-based parenting services. We will discuss recruitment, communication, and safety strategies for your staff and participants. Come prepared to share your agency’s ideas to help all programs successfully serve the community. You will have the opportunity to get to know other community providers, share information, and support one another. Date and time TBD.
Successfully Engaging Youth and Their Families into Services 
Family is critical to a youth’s development and success, and providers can work with families to mobilize sources of support and resilience. In this Training and Implementation Associates (TIA) course, we show why engagement can be challenging, how to avoid blaming families for being resistant, and how to form a healthy working relationship. This online training course is available on Trust Academy and is appropriate for direct service providers and supervisors of Family Strengthening and Family and Neighborhood Support programs.
Injury Prevention Trainings *
Childhood injury prevention capacity-building efforts facilitated by the Public Health Trust's Injury Free Coalition for Kids of Miami are offered to all Trust-funded providers via Zoom. Visit The Children's Trust Academy for full descriptions, meeting info and registration information.

The Advocacy Network on Disabilities Training Opportunities
These 3 Online Courses are always available through Trust Academy:

  • Understanding The Children’s Trust Guidelines for Including Children with Disabilities - Did you know that to address the needs of children and youth with disabilities, there are options for modifying outcome measures? Discover what is meant by accommodation, modification, alternate assessment, and alternate outcomes. Learn when they are appropriate for program participants, and how to request permission to use them.  
  • Discovering Inclusion - The foundation for all other trainings, an online introduction to children and youth with disabilities. Includes the benefits and characteristics of an inclusive program, and provides practical common-sense information on using respectful language and etiquette.
  • Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder Part 1 - You hear a lot about it, but do you really know what Autism Spectrum Disorder is, and the different ways it appears in different children and youth? Learn the facts, and how to recognize and accommodate those with sensory sensitivities, foster social competence, address bullying, and ensure a safe environment. This online course is a pre-requisite for Successful Inclusion of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders Part 2.

The Miami Foundation’s Community Grants program is now open for applications. Our community is ready for progress on education, health, economic stability, and more. NBCUniversal's Project Innovation Grants Return for Nonprofits *
The Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation and NBCUniversal Local announced the return of their “Project Innovation” competitive grant challenge in 11 markets, including Miami-Fort Lauderdale (WTVJ, WSCV).
Applications can be submitted online between February 18 and March 25 at nbcuprojectinnovation.com or in Spanish at nbcuproyectoinnovacion.com. Grant winners will be announced later this year.

For 2022, $3.475 million in grants to eligible nonprofits in the following four grant categories:
  • Community Engagement: Programs that enable individuals to engage and volunteer in their communities. 
  • Culture of Inclusion: Programs that encourage equitable access, opportunities, and resources for traditionally underrepresented communities. 
  • Next Generation Storytellers: Programs that promote access and develop pathways for emerging talent, diverse voices, and underrepresented youth to explore careers in news, entertainment, sports and the arts. 
  • Youth Education and Empowerment: In-school and out-of-school programs that equip youth with the tools they need to succeed, including STEM/ STEAM education and youth entrepreneurship. 

Key grant eligibility requirements: 501(c)(3) nonprofit’s headquarters and/or the program for which the organization is applying must be located in a participating market, service the market they operate from, have had total expenses of more than $100,000 (defined by the organizations most recent 990 IRS filing), and its programs must help to resolve everyday community issues in any of the four grant categories.

Catalyst Miami is excited to announce its second LIGHT cohort this Spring 2022. The Overtown Youth Center is offering FREE parenting groups through the Positive Parenting Program. Available Mental Health Services for Low-Income Families
The Institute for Child and Family Health (ICFH) provides mental health services including Individual/family therapy and psychiatry for children and adolescents in Miami-Dade County. The institute accepts most Medicaid HMO’s and has funding for children of low-income families who do not have insurance. ICFH also provides individual/family therapy and psychiatry services for adults who have Medicaid.

The Research and Evaluation Analyst is a critical member of both cross- and inter-departmental teams at The Children’s Trust who engages in proactive problem-solving and critical thinking/analysis related to the design and effectiveness of various child, youth and family services. The Grants & Communications Writer is a critical member of the Development and Communications team and is primarily responsible for identifying funding opportunities from public and private sources, and writing polished proposals and grant applications to secure new and renewed funding, which will support fundraising efforts to meet an annual budget of $4.4M. The position will also support story development and organizational communications.
The Grants & Communications Writer must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to work efficiently and creatively under deadline. The Writer will work closely with Program Leadership, including the Chief Strategy Officer, and should have strong research and logic skills.
