Financial assistance and scholarships are available for current and prospective families! We do not want any family interested in attending Guardian Angels to be deterred by the cost. There are state-based, archdiocesan, parish, and private scholarships/assistance available. Importantly, the Catholic Education Foundation deadline is on February 6. This needs-based scholarship was a major piece to the One Faith, One Hope, One Love campaign from the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. A flyer with additional details can be found here. All families who plan to apply for financial assistance from Guardian Angels must first apply for assistance from this source.

Registration Is Now Open

Guardian Angels School Registration is open for the 2022-2023 school year. Through last week, we’ve had over 225 students who are already registered for the upcoming school year. All current families are encouraged to register for next year, as soon as possible. We fully expect our preschool and pre-k classes to fill to capacity by January 31st. Please do not delay your registration.  

Our Open House Is This Sunday, Prospective Families Only

An Open House for K-8 will be held this Sunday, January 30th from 1:00-2:30pm. This is a change in the ending time; we will end Open House at 2:30. This Open House is specifically for anyone considering enrolling their child(ren) in kindergarten through eighth grade for the 2022-2023 school year. This event is a great opportunity to talk with teachers in their classrooms, and get a feel for the community you will find here. Please help us spread the word! With the current COVID numbers, we have decided to limit Open House to only prospective families this year. This allows us to have fewer people in the building at this time. We ask that current families do not attend this event, as they have in the past. Thank you for your understanding.

Bengals Spirit Day Friday

On Friday, January 28, we will have an orange and black spirit day as we cheer on the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game! Students may wear their favorite Bengals clothes or anything orange and/or black. This spirit day is tops only. Students should plan to wear their uniform bottoms or the GA sweatpants.

NEW DATE: Father Daughter Dance Moving To April

Due to the current rise in COVID cases, This year's Father Daughter Dance will be moved to April 2nd. The dance will be held in the undercroft from 7:00-10:00pm and is open to all GA families. The theme: The Roaring Twenties!

Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. A ticket include the father and daughter. Buying tickets is a two-paret process:

Penny Wars Are Coming!

Penny Wars are back February 1st - 3rd. Start collecting your coins now! Students can drop coins in containers placed in the undercroft from 7:30am-8:15am Tuesday-Thursday.

Each grade has its own collection container. Gain points for your grade’s team by adding pennies and bills to your grade’s container. Lower the points for other grades by adding silver coins to their containers. The students will be socially distanced when depositing coins into containers.

The grade with the most points and the grade with the most money on Thursday will each win movie day! If the students raise $2,000-they will earn a FULL Out of Uniform Pass!

2022 Spring Soccer Registration Is Live

Registration is now OPEN for 2022 Spring Soccer. Please sign your son or daughter up on the Athletics Boosters website.

Practices are held at GA and games Start in April.

We continue to offer two leagues based on age and skill level.

• Guardian Angels Pre-K and K Coed Soccer: For our Pre-k and K players we offer our own Guardian Angels Co-Ed league, where practice and a game are held during the same hour on Friday nights on our GA field. It is an instructional league and best served for those still learning the game. If you have any questions, please reach out to Matt Ciotti or Megan & Sam Schulte.
• SAY East Guardian Angels Soccer: Open to 1st -8th grades and experienced K soccer players. Practices typically 1-2x a week with weekend game(s). Highly competitive games and teams that offer lots of soccer development and playing time. If you have any questions, please reach out to Brian Kathmann.

Registration must be completed by February 20th.

If you're sick of paying thousands of dollars for club soccer to watch your son or daughter stand on the sideline or play on their 2nd and 3rd teams, we'd love to welcome you and your kid(s) back to GA Soccer to learn and develop with our GA community - at a small fraction of the price and drive time!

Even in cold weather, it's never too early to look forward to Spring! Hope to see everyone on the soccer fields soon!

Boys Volleyball Begins In March

Boys volleyball season begins soon! More information is coming soon but a few things to note: 

• Season starts on March 14th
• Games played on Monday-Friday
• 6 week season
• No games during Holy Week or Spring Break (typically week after Holy Week)
• Four weeks of two matches
• Tournament May 9-13

Registration Is Open For Lil Angels

Lil Angels program for students in kindergarten through 2nd grade is starting in March and registration is open now! Visit the GA Athletics Boosters Sports Registration Portal to sign up.  

About Lil Angels

Lil’ Angels Athletics program will expose children in grades K-2 to a variety of sports including basketball, volleyball, field/track, and soccer. The goal of the program is to offer children the opportunity to interact with their friends in an extracurricular environment while introducing different sports to the children in a fun and casual atmosphere. The kids will learn fundamental skills to be prepared for the GCCYS (Greater Cincinnati Catholic Youth Sports) programs offered beginning in 3rd grade. This year's season will be once a week for 8 sessions, running from early March through April. The program takes place at GA, outside and/or in the Gym (if there is inclement weather.) A small fee of $25 is charged to each participant.

Lil Angels Schedule

Prior to practice, your student will be walked down to the gym/field by a coach and/or teacher. If your child attends aftercare, they can be walked there after practice by a coach.

The schedule will be as followed:

• Kindergarten: Practices are Tuesdays immediately following school 2:45-4:00pm.
• 1st Grade: Practices are Wednesdays immediately following school 2:45-4:00pm.
• 2nd Grade: Practices are Thursdays immediately following school 2:45-4:00pm.

The specific start date will be shared via the respective class coach closer leading up to March.

Fathers Team Meeting This Friday

Join the GA Fathers Team this Friday, January 28th, at 6:05am to discuss this week’s topic, "Raising Our Children in the Church."  How can we impart the importance of our faith to our children? While it feels like a modern problem, it has been a challenge for parents throughout history. The Bible is a story of human mistakes and how God makes great things out of them.

Green Team Tip of the Week

School Masses

You can find a full schedule of school Masses on the calendar in Rediker. At this time, our All School Masses are NOT open to visitors. We will be livestreaming all of the All School Masses through GA’s Facebook page and YouTube channel. Families are welcome to attend grade level Masses.

Lunchroom News

Kaldi's offers a hot lunch option every day for our students. All meals must be pre-ordered before 8:30am the day of service; this is done through the Ez-Parent website. Students will have the option to buy additional items during lunch, as long as they have an established account with a positive balance. Order GA Sweatpants

Help support the 8th grade class and order GA sweatpants. These are approved to wear on out-of-uniform and spirit wear days. A portion of each sweatpant order raises money towards the 8th grade trip and activities each year. Pants can be ordered online throughout the school year.

Cookie Ministry 

Guardian Angels School Cookie Ministry teams up with the Parish Parish Peanut Butter group to feed families in need. The Peanut Butter group makes 1,500 peanut butter and bologna sandwiches. GA students donate cookies. St. Francis Seraph Church in Over-the-Rhine gives the food to families in need. Students are asked to bring in two dozen cookies, brownies, or rice krispie bars on their classroom's designated day. They do need to be bagged, two treats per bag. All pre-k classes are responsible for the next donation on Monday, January 31st. Donations of juice boxes and prepackaged snacks are also needed. A complete schedule for the school year is attached. 

Attendance Line

If your child will be absent or late to school, please call the main school office by 8:00 each morning. We recently upgraded our telephone system. In doing so, we removed the former “attendance line.” All parents needing to report their child absent or late to school should call our Office Assistant, Melissa Boston, using the main school phone number - 624-3141.

Christian Service Program - Faith in Action

The purpose of the Christian Service Program is to enhance the religion curriculum at Guardian Angels Church. It is the duty of all Christians to reach out in service to those around them. Christ asks us to be His hands and feet on earth, keeping His mission of reaching out to those in need alive. The students will complete their service within the following settings: at home, the parish community/school and the community at-large. This outreach may be completed individually, with a partner, or in a group. 

This program will focus more on the meaning of the actual service opportunities rather than completing a prescribed amount of time. You will choose activities for each component—service to your family, service to your school/parish and service to the poor and vulnerable in our community. There is no minimum requirement of hours to complete. Grades 1-3 are required to complete at least 2 activities for each component; grades 4-8 at least 3 for each. You are certainly encouraged to complete more! See your Religion teacher, Mrs. Froehlich, or the parish website for a list of suggested activities and the log sheet.

Box Tops For Education

The Guardian Angels PTA collects Box Tops and uses the funds earned to purchase indoor recess games and outdoor recess equipment. Box Tops is now on a digital platform. To participate, you’ll need to download the Box Tops App and scan your grocery receipt within 14 days of purchase. You’ll find more information here.

Kroger Community Rewards

Have you signed up for Kroger Community Rewards and designated GA as your beneficiary? The more families who register, the more money our school receives through the program. Kroger Community Rewards offers a great way for you to support our school's technology fund...and you don't have to spend a penny. You can search for GA or use our NPO number, 80200. The amount Guardian Angels receives depends on the points our supporters rack up while grocery shopping.

Amazon Shopping Supports GA

You can support Guardian Angels Parish when you shop at Amazon.com! GA is a participant in the AmazonSmile Program. You can sign-up to have a portion of your purchase sales come back to Guardian Angels. When you make purchases through the AmazonSmile page, and have GA selected as your beneficiary, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products back to GA. You have to be shopping from smile.amazon.com page of the site for GA to receive the benefit.

SYNOD On Synodality: Pope Want To Hear From You

As you may know, the Holy See has initiated Synod 2021-2023, a two-year process of “reflection and sharing of the whole Church” in discerning the will of God on how to best accomplish the mission of the Church. The Holy Father is asking for as many of the baptized as possible to participate in archdiocese-wide meetings taking place in January and February, 2022, to discuss how we can collectively better advance the message of salvation. The St. Francis De Sales Deanery Synod meeting will be held February 10, 2022 at 7:00pm at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary in the Bartlett Center. If that date and time do not work, feel free to sign up at another Synod location. To learn more and sign up, please visit catholicaoc.org/synod for more information and other meeting times.
