NEW BUSINESS PARTNERNEWPARTNER
We are excited to announce that we have a new partner in education who just might be able to make your lives a whole lot easier this gift-giving season! Would you like to give a little something to your student's teacher or to one of our hard-working staff members but have no idea what they'd like? Problem solved!
The PTO has partnered with Tributes By Tracy, a small business located right here in Milton. Our partner has completed a 'likes assessment' of each of our teachers and staff members and has the inside scoop on their loves, interests, and 'stay-away-froms'. You can reach out to Tracy directly and she'll create something personalized for the gift recipient and deliver it to him/her at the school, or you can pick it up yourself to allow your student to hand-deliver it. Of course this is simply a new option available to you and not in any way an obligation.  If you wish to utilize this gifting option, place orders by December 1 to ensure the recipient's favorites are in stock and deliverable before the winter break. Later orders will be accepted, but selections may be limited.
As an added perk to the school, should you utilize Tributes By Tracy to assist you with gifts for others on your list, our partner will generously donate 3% of the proceeds of those orders to the Milton Eagles PTO. Be sure to mention Milton HS when placing your order!

VAPING FOCUS GROUP: STUDENTS WANTEDVAPING
Georgia State University is working with the Fulton County Health Department to learn more about your thoughts on e-cigarettes. They are holding focus groups to hear from you about what you know about e-cigarettes, what you think about them, and where you get your information on them. This is a research study.
During the focus groups, they will ask a group of up to 10 students like you questions such as:
"What do you know about e-cigarettes?"
"What type of e-cigarettes do you know about?"
"Where did you first learn about e-cigarettes?"
With permission from your parents, you could be eligible to participate in a 60-90 minute group talk to help us learn more about youth and vaping, and earn a $50 gift card.  If you are interested, sign up quickly because space is limited.
or call 404-460-4795.  Once you sign up, a facilitator from JSI, an organization working with Georgia State University will contact you and your parents about the details.  Participation is completely voluntary and confidential.
There is no pressure from Milton High School to get involved in this project.

Milton Certamen 5th at Eastside Certamen!
Congratulations to the MJCL Advanced Certamen team members Joey Lund and Insiya Motiwala, who placed 5th at the 13th annual Eastside Certamen tournament in Covinton, Georgia. Certamen is a game of fast recall of facts about classical civilizations and its peoples, languages, and cultures. 18 teams competed in the advanced division this year, and Milton won 3 of the 5 rounds it played in the contest. Encomia are due to these sagacious scholars who gave up their Saturday to represent Milton at this prestigious academic contest.

WORK BASED LEARNING EXPO 2019
Milton's Work-Based Learning Students participated in the district's 3rd Annual Work-Based Learning Expo with more than 800 students entitled Move Forward and Focus on Your Future. The event planned by WBL Coordinators and hosted by the Career and Technical Education Department, offered opportunities for students to strengthen their employability skills and make decisions about their future career paths. Students attended group sessions led by presenters from the GA Department of Labor to various key industries including those from STEM-related, logistics, transportation, manufacturing, and construction areas. The WBL Expo supports students enrolled in Work-Based Learning, a course where students receive academic credit for work/internship/and apprenticeship. Students enrolled in the course have taken previous courses that align with their employment and pathways. Work-Based Learning underscores the district's commitment to students' academic success and supports our goal to prepare students to be college and career ready.

MILTON ROBOTICS
The Robotic Eagles, the MHS Robotics Team, participated in their second event of their season this Saturday. The objective for this season is to build a robot to navigate a field and stack plastic blocks and earn points in an allotted time; the teams are placed in two-team alliances and the two alliances compete to win. At the first meet they placed 2nd and set the high score out of all 162 Georgia FTC teams and were one of the only robots that was advanced enough to effectively stack blocks. At the second meet we beat our own high score by stacking 5 blocks.
The team will compete in two more competitions before the robotics playoffs in January.
