Book Focus: Rumors
Rumors began as a "caught in the act" kind of plot idea, but this time a son catching his mother with his sister. Except Annie is Tyler's half-sister and not biologically related to his mother, Shelby. Following the death of their father, Tyler and Shelby become her joint guardians, with Annie deciding to continue living with Shelby after her 18th birthday.

After that backstory, we get Tyler coming home from Boulder after his Junior year of college, a day earlier than expected, and catching Annie and Shelby in bed. Soon, Tyler winds up in bed with them both and they're caught by Annie's friend Marissa, who apologizes for sleeping with Annie's boyfriend and confesses that she's in love with Annie and the boyfriend had promised to arrange a threesome, when Annie had been saving herself to give her virginity to her brother.

Annie promptly realizes that getting Tyler to date Marissa while having her join them in a foursome would help hide the incest. very much in parallel to the two triads I developed in the "Our Love, After Dad Died" series, except this time the dividing lines aren't generational as Shelby and Annie are one of the legal couples.

The main conflict in the story comes from that ex-boyfriend who, after seeing Tyler and Marissa on their first date, starts a malicious rumor of Tyler and Annie committing incest in a threesome with Marissa. Which is almost 100% true, only omitting Shelby, except he has no evidence. Between dealing with that rumor swirling around town and making plans for the future, the foursome spends a week in Lake Tahoe, at a home Tyler and Annie inherited from their father.

This was a case where the story flowed out of me very smoothly. By the time I was done writing, the length had crossed into novel length, so this is my one standalone novel -- for now. I do have ideas for a sequel, including ways to cross this over with the "Our Love" and "Dad, Do I Turn You On?" casts. If you've read the "Our Love" books, you'll know which characters have connections to Colorado. If not, what are you waiting for?
