Serving through the Challenges

I am so thankful for the support that we receive from so many of you. May the Lord bless you and return whatever you give a hundred-fold.

Uganda is trying slowly to get their schools opened again. On November 1^st they are allowing all university and vocational school students to go back to school, as well as the advanced level (the last 2 of 6 grades) of high school. The primary children, unfortunately, will not return until January 2022. Please pray this will happen as the children and youth grow weary and concerned about their lives.

We recently discovered a problem at our children’s home that has become a bit of an unexpected emergency. The roof to the main home, the one in which I live with 9 children and a nanny, has begun to cave in. We need to replace the roof as soon as possible. This is the original roof of the home that was built almost 20 years ago. The roof, ceiling and even portions of the wall will need to be replaced and we will need to move to the guesthouse while this is completed. Preliminary estimates for this project show that it may be as high

as $28,000 and we pray we don’t find more issues as we begin the work. We are praying that the Lord will provide these funds quickly so that this work can be done soon. I ask you to consider a gift, small or large, toward this urgent need for my home where I hope to continue to care for the children with which God has blessed me.

We continue to offer food baskets to impoverished families of the community as well as the sponsored children’s homes. I believe most of you know that we give the sponsored children regularly through sponsorship, so this is not new except that we are increasing the amount of food. The area’s fourth attempt at a harvest this year did not turn out, as we have had no rain. When it does rain it floods and destroys.

We need your help and ask that you pray as well for the people. We find that people are literally going without and are not doing well.

We are serving food to over a thousand homes in the community as a result of your faithful giving and we ask that you continue to help these people as you can. Pray for good rain. This month is usually our best rainy season of the year, but I have been told that we have received no rain at all the whole month in the whole country.

We have a little baby girl named Vivian that our visiting doctors diagnosed with a heart issue. The almost one-year-old is also a sickle cell victim. We are working with Samaritan’s Purse to get her into a specialist and it appears this will happen in early December. Please pray that she makes it and that they are able to really help her. Having sickle cell will make it more difficult.

I am in America right now and as I write, I am in Denver. I have been and will be traveling a lot and ask for your prayers for good health throughout. It has been wonderful so far being able to visit with many people, some of whom I have not seen for a while. I hope to touch base with many of you before I return to Uganda on the 24^th of November.

Christmas

If you would like to send a Christmas card to your sponsored child you may send it to our Littleton offices by November 3 for Katherine to take back with her. Thereafter, you will need to send cards directly to our Uganda address or you may write your child an e-letter at our website. Please never send cash/checks to the field address.

We are now beginning to collect funds for our sponsorship Christmas celebration and gifts. If you have not done so already and wish to send $35 for your sponsored child you may do so here . We also need to cover those whose sponsors are unable to give additionally and those on our wait list if further funds come in. We so enjoy this opportunity to celebrate Jesus with the children and remind them of His love for them.
