Good evening St. Francis of Assisi Families,
Prayers for health and safety for you and your loved ones. Tonight, I am forwarding you a letter from Dr. Erin Barisano, our Diocesan Superintendent. She wrote the attached letter prior to the press conference held yesterday and asked that we still send out her letter with this addendum:
"After sending my letter dated April 1, 2020, Governor Newsom announced that closing California schools for the remainder of the academic year "is the right thing to do." While this is not a mandate to close schools, it is likely that public schools across the state will remain closed. As people of faith, we remain hopeful that our students will be able to return to campus before the end of the school year. We will continue to make final decisions and announcements regarding campus closures in a timely manner as guided by the Center for Disease Control & Prevention, the Orange County Department of Education, and the Orange County Health Care Agency."
As your Principal for St. Francis of Assisi Catholic School, I want to assure you that our Faculty and Administrative Team are fully prepared to remotely educate your students through the end of the school year should our Diocese notify us of further extensions. The health, safety, and well-being of your children are most important. During this time of transition, be assured that St. Francis of Assisi School is here for your family. We recognize that while this new way of delivering instruction has been an adjustment for ALL of us, our faculty continue to train, adapt, and work with families to support ongoing student growth and learning. To provide sustainability for this long-term distance learning model, some guidelines need to be established at this time. Please look for communication on updated protocols which will be sent out this weekend. We are all adjusting to this new way of life, recognizing that this too shall pass. As a faith-based community, we have pulled together to weather many storms. Let us work together to support one another as we persevere through COVID-19.
