MEMBERSHIP AND REGIONAL NEWS

International First Grand Anti-Basileus
Rasheeda Liberty
We are well on our way to achieving our membership goal for the 2016-17 sorority year with a strong fall 2016 T.O.R.C.H. season, an increased focus on reclamation through our "Welcome Home" campaign and many of our members choosing to return from the previous sorority year. Our regional leadership team has been phenomenal in sharing its plans to continue the momentum.

The team recently attended the Association of Fraternity/Sorority
Advisors (AFA) Annual Meeting in Bosto n. They received the first of many leadership training courses designed collaboratively with The Harbor Institute and the Office of the International First Grand Anti-Basileus. The confe rence also allowed the team to meet and connect w ith several campus  professionals to continue to build our foundation, our undergraduate membership.

We are looking forward to the great things ahead for our membership and commend regional leaders, advisors, membership chair s and sorors who  are making th e difference.
WELCOME HOME SPOTLIGHT

As a part of our "Welcome Home" campaign for reclamation, we wanted to highlight one of our reclaimed members. Ruby Nelson came home after 55 years.

"I recently reactivated my membership to Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Mu  Zeta Sigma Chapter, after 55 years. My greatest joy upon returning is being a part of this wonderful sisterhood reaching out to make a difference in our community and world. I enjoy volunteering, doing projects and encouraging youth. Knowing the condition of our society, we need the beacon light of Sigma to forever shine. So, I'm back to continue this powerful work," said Nelson.

You can follow the other "Welcome Home" stories and highlights on our social media platforms, using #SGRho, #SigmaGammaRho or #WelcomeHome.
SORORS MAKING A SPLASH

Our partnership with  USA Swimming  continues to grow. Members recently attended the AT&T Winter National Championship and our Swim 1922 event in Atlanta, Georgia. They jumped in the pool to learn water safety tips and basic swim techniques from Olympian and Soror  Maritza Correia McClendon  and Olympian  Rowdy Gaines . Sigma Gamma Rho continues to be safe in the water and prevent drowning in our community.
ALMOST 10,000 HOURS AND COUNTING

Community service matters! We put out the challenge and, Sorors, Philos and Rhoers, you accepted. We exceeded our 7,000 Hour Community Service Challenge for the month of November. We have done almost 10,000 hours of service across the country and beyond. You are amazing!

If you have not turned in your community service hours, you  still have a little time. Hours must be submitted on the Reporting Tool by Friday, December 9.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Wishing you peace, joy and happiness as you spend quality time with family and friends this holiday season!
