LUTHERAN CHURCH
Immanuel Lutheran Church Crosby, October 2020
Churchyard
Immanuel has a different style of worship each Sunday. The first Sunday of each month features Churchyard, a gospel bluegrass band. Churchyard often performs at other churches and venues. Members of the band are Denny Henrichs, Wendy Chirhart, Denise Kalevik, Dave Peterson, Jane Troge and Brad Miller.

The second Sunday of the month is traditional worship service with liturgy. ,The third Sunday is contemporary worship with Wing and A Prayer and the fourth Sunday is a blended worship.
Hallelujah Handbells
by Judy Kirchoff, Director
Thank you to the people of Immanuel who have read the scripture lessons and prayers on the Traditional Sunday when the handbells are playing.  In order to practice social distancing, we have used a lot of space for our tables which have created a maze for our Pastor, the readers and the altar guild.  Continue to walk carefully to your destination and remember that life is always an adventure.

This month we played a medley of Gospel hymns and in November we will play a song of Thanksgiving to God who is our creator, provider and protector.  Rachel Norwood will play flute with the bell choir.

We currently are in need of substitute or full-time bell ringers.  We definitely practice safety procedures by wearing our masks and sanitizing equipment.  Please call Judy Kirchoff at 218-820-2802 for more information. Please consider being a part of this fun ministry.
Children's Ministry
by Jill DeCent
It’s so exciting to see so many families attending church again, even including some new faces-welcome to Immanuel! We are experiencing some impressive Sunday School attendance numbers, since we started in September. Children have been learning about the Lord’s Prayer through a series of creative workshops during Sunday School. We truly are so blessed to have the BEST team of Sunday School teachers!
We will soon be looking into options for our Christmas program this year that will be a bit more socially distant-more to come! A Trunk-Or-Treat was beginning in thought earlier this month, but we decided to possibly entertain this idea again next year, due to health concerns.
I am always looking for your thoughts and feedback as parents and congregation when it comes to the support and development of our Children’s Ministry-don’t hesitate to contact myself with anything that you may want to chat about. Go and GROW in God’s word and love!

Happy Autumn Kingdom families!!

Thank heavens for all of the wonderfully warm days! Also thank heavens for the colorful leaves staying on the trees this long, so that we can enjoy the beauty of creation.

Just think, our Creator made all of the AWESOME colors and designs in nature JUST for us to look at in delight! Wow so blessed!
On that note, I feel extremely blessed to have had such a great Youth night on Wednesday!! We had a great time playing kickball! We even had enough youth and mentors to have “cheerleaders”.

Our Kahoot! Bible quiz was played by all and we also watched a music video by Hawk Nelson, called “Thank God For Something”.
We finished up with a challenge for all to keep their eyes open and documenting “faith sightings” in our communities- (ie: churches, Jesus fish, Scripture, etc.) Listening to worship music, reading the “blueprint” magazine I sent home with them (generously donated by a loving congregation member), documenting what they are reading/listening to and seeing that pertains to faith.
This challenge will continue until our “holiday”party in January. Princes vs. the Princesses. Enjoy this activity with your youth, looking away from screens and towards symbols of faith. They are all around us!!! This is a fantastic example of renewing our minds and seeing the good in the world.

We need to believe there will be heaven on earth to achieve it! I believe that this generation stands on the truth

Take care
God bless
Faithfully,

Fall Study
We are halfway through the fall study, “How to Pray – A Simple Guide for Normal People” by Pete Grieg is the book we will be studying. There are still books available if you wish to start now. The books are $12.00 each. There is also an online course that goes with the book – for personal study or small groups – at: www.prayercourse.org. There is no DVD with this study.

The worship services during the eight weeks of this study will focus on this study.
Meal With A Mission

The September Meal With A Mission benefited Immanuel's BeFriender Ministry. The BeFriender Ministry is a ministry that trains lay people to help others going through a difficult life situation. Pastor Paul, Nancy Evans and Elaine Karel were trained in this ministry in August. Funds raised by the Meal With A Mission provided funds for the training of five more Immanuel members. They are Carol Pundt, LuAnn Henrichs, Kim Waffensmith, Jim and Meredith Bloedel.
The meal was provided by Big Bob’s Catering out of Garrison and featured a generous pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, coleslaw, and a cookie.

There will not be a Meal With A Mission in October. The November Meal With A Mission will benefit REC (Residents Encountering Christ
