Autumn is here and as we soak up the last bits of warmth, we’re right there with you in finding ways to continuously adapt and adjust to our ever-changing world. Habitat for Humanity exists to build strength, stability, self-reliance, and shelter – all of which are in high demand during these tumultuous times. We, at Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay, recognize the difficulties of the past few months, whether from the pandemic, employment, fires, or whatever this year has brought. 

That said, we also recognize the moments of encouragement and progress that we’ve been experiencing! Both of our ReStore locations are open with Covid modifications and it’s wonderful to be able to see smiling faces (or more accurately, smiling eyes) once again. We’re so excited to have broken ground on our Rodeo Creek Court project! This project will house 11 families, which we are very excited about. 

We hope that as the seasons change, you’re able to find warmth and encouragement while Habitat for Humanity continues the work of building alongside you in our community.

Our volunteers are the lifeblood of Habitat Monterey Bay programs. We can't wait to welcome you back to construction at Rodeo Creek Court, and for now, here are a few stories from two of our loyal volunteers.

Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay welcomes Everardo Jaime Jr., as our new Family Services Manager. Everardo is originally from Portland, Oregon where he and his family were recipients of a home through Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East in 2011. After graduating in 2016, Everardo moved to Monterrey, Mexico, and worked for Escalando Fronteras (a non-profit) before moving to Santa Cruz in 2017 and working as the Retail Coordinator for Cat & Cloud Coffee.
