Friday October 25, 2019
Dear Immanuel Family,

Thank you for your participation in this year's fall fundraiser. We raised over $10,000 for school field trips. Thank you, also, for donating drinks for last weekend's volleyball tournament. The 8th grade girls won the championship! Plus, our PTL made a good profit from the tournament.

Parent-Teacher schedules went home today (Friday). Your family has been assigned a time for conferences. In the middle school (grades 6-8) you were assigned a time block. Please come to your conference a few minutes early to help everyone stay on schedule. There are almost 400 students at Immanuel and we want everyone to have time for a good conversation with the teachers.

Immanuel will celebrate the Protestant Reformation on Sunday. There will be special music for the celebration services at 8:00 and 10:30. As always, there are Bible studies for all ages offered at 9:30 so the whole family can worship God and learn God's Word together.

God's Blessings,
Sharon Wallace
Bible Verse of the month:

Christ died for our sins, just as Scripture said he would. He was buried. He was raised from the dead on the third day, just as Scripture said he would be. 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4

PTL has been blessed to host three fundraisers already this year. The golf outing, fall fest, and most recently the volleyball tournament. Just from these fundraisers, PTL has been able to raise $13,000.00! Wow, what an accomplishment. Thank you first to God for these opportunities, then to our wonderful volunteers and donors. The next PTL fundraiser will be the basketball tournament in January. If you would like to join PTL please contact Mr. Amling at aamling@Immanuelbrookfield.org .
Chess Club:
No Chess Club on Friday, October 18. Chess Club will resume on Friday 10/25.
Parent-Teacher Conferences

You should have received a sign-up page that was brought home this week. You should choose a time block that works for your schedule and a second one that would work also. Then, send that back to school on Monday. The teachers will assign every parent a time, trying to meet the first preference if possible. Next Friday, 10/25, you will see your assigned time on the slip that comes back home.

If you have not seen a form come home for signing up for conferences, please email your child's teacher and request another form.
Band News:
We  DO  have band on November 1. We will follow the A schedule. Monday, November 4 is a band make up day. We will follow a special schedule that day including 8:10-8:30 rehearsal.
Wednesday, November 13 the band (grades 6-8) will play at the Veteran’s Day chapel. Do not forget your instrument that day!
Limo Lunch!

Our students who sold 25 items or donated $125.00 toward the fall fundraiser earned themselves a limo ride and lunch from Immanuel. November 1, a limo will pick up your kids from Immanuel and take them to the Southwest District office to enjoy some Chic-fil-a.

*please note the day change*
Basketball season is coming soon! Students who play basketball are not allowed to stay after school unless there is a practice scheduled right after school. So, if practice is at 4:30, student athletes must go home after school or go to child care if they are registered. Then, at 4:30 (no earlier than 4:20) students return to school for practice.

The Immanuel policy is that no student is allowed in the building unsupervised after 3:10. Parents need to be with their children until practice begins or a coach is in charge.

See the Sports Calendar for practice schedules.
Chapel Offering

This year our chapel offerings will once again go to support the SOS Center located at 4620 W. North Ave, Milwaukee. Below is a brief description of the mission. You may visit their website at  soscenterinc.org  for more information.

Mission
  • The SOS Center is a non-profit social services agency that facilitates Christian care, educational instruction, after school programming & life skills activities for children and families in the Milwaukee community.
SOS Values Statement – SOS Center Believes In:
  • Service: We commit to serve God by helping others.
  • Faith: We illustrate by words and actions that communities are uplifted when Christian values are taught and practiced.
  • Peace: We commit to provide a safe atmosphere of respect, peace and love.

SOS Center is broadening its scope to not only include existing programs but develop more family ministry programs and mercy ministries in collaboration and partnership with other LCMS churches – both urban and suburban.

To date we have collected $513.54 for the SOS Center in Milwaukee. We will continue to collect through November.

Chapel offerings can be brought to our weekly Wednesday chapel services and placed in the treasure box located at the front of church. Thank you for your generosity in giving and for teaching your children the blessing of giving to others!
Immanuel's blood drive is coming up,  Monday November 11 from 1:00pm-7:00pm . We have nearly 400 students...do you realize if every student could recruit just ONE PERSON, we'd easily surpass our goal. Not everyone who comes to donate blood is able, and some people need to be turned away especially with the beginning of cold/flu season. We want school families involved and participating!!! If you can't/won't donate blood, please ask your friends, family, neighbors....reach out via text or facebook or have your child call someone to ask! Get  someone  to come donate blood on Monday November 11! Its an easy way to save many lives! Every pint counts!

As an Immanuel student, if you recruit ONE PERSON to come to donate blood you get:
-a medal or bracelet (depending on grade)
-30 minute jump pass to Sky Zone!

As a classroom at Immanuel, for every person that your class recruits you get a point toward:
-a pizza/soda AND ice cream party sponsored by the McCaughn's who run this blood drive every year!
-a $100 gift card for the teacher/classroom to use at their discretion!

As a blood donor you get:
-a coupon for a hair cut from Sport Clips
-a coupon for a FREE pint of custard from Culvers
-entry into raffle for 2 Badgers Tickets!
-yummy homemade goodies/snacks after you are done donating!
