Good afternoon Precinct 2!  I wanted to touch base with you during this difficult time in our community.  I've been in constant contact with our emergency services, health advisers, and other county officials to ensure we have the latest information regarding this virus.  I will detail that below.

I also wanted to make sure you knew that during this time our County Office is not open to the public but you can call the office at 281-259-6492 regarding any county road concerns you may have.  If you have questions regarding the recent county stay-at-home order, please call the County Judge's Office at 936-539-7812.

Although many things have changed, our department is still continuing to work for you.  At the bottom of this newsletter are two key road updates.

As we continue to pray for our community, I ask that you stay home because this will ultimately save lives.  Please protect others as you would have them to protect you and your family.  Stay safe!

STATE OF TEXAS UPDATES
Governor Greg Abbott today issued an Executive Order implementing Essential Services and Activities Protocols for the entire state of Texas. The protocols direct all Texans to minimize non-essential gatherings and in-person contact with people who are not in the same household. The Governor's Executive Order renews and amends his  previous order enforcing federal social distancing guidelines for COVID-19, including closing schools and instructing Texans to avoid eating or drinking at bars and restaurants. The protocols allow exceptions for essential activities and services based on the  Department of Homeland Security's guidelines on the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce. Examples of these essential services include healthcare, grocery stores, banking and financial services, utilities, child care for essential service employees, and government services.
Today's Executive Order follows the decision by President Trump and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to enhance social distancing guidelines and extend the deadline for these guidelines to April 30th.

The Governor issued a proclamation regarding his prior Executive Order mandating a self-quarantine for individuals arriving from the New York Tri-State Area and New Orleans, Louisiana.
