Dear St. Rose School Families,
I realize that it has only been a couple of days since the last newsletter but as we anticipate the start of school there is a lot to share with you.
This week the Diocese amended its Re-Opening Plan regarding student mask use. Please take a look in the attached plan for those details. I am also attaching information about a service, Catholic Telehealth, that the Diocese is offering.
Mrs. Locke is seeking summer family photos to hang on bulletin boards in the school. We want to see all of your smiling faces so please send them along to art@srles.com. Thank you.
Day by day the building is coming to life in anticipation of your children's arrival. The teachers are busy readying classrooms, our cleaning crew continues to sanitize and implement safety measures and there is a positive feeling in the air. We are ready!
We are excited to see all of our returning students and delighted to welcome many new students and families to our community. On Friday, August 28th there will be a New Family Welcome gathering on the field behind the church. You will be receiving invitations shortly so we look forward to seeing you then. The rain date is August 31st.
I hope you have marked your calendars for the first HSA meeting September 10th and the HSA's golf tournament on September 21st. This is a wonderful community bonding event as well as an important fundraiser for the school. We will also be offering a high school test prep course which you can read about in Mrs. B's Student Life update below.

Books and supplies are being delivered while teachers are busy getting classrooms ready in excited anticipation of seeing their students in a few weeks! Knowing the hallways and classrooms will be filled with the chatter and laughter of the children seems to be the driving force of getting things prepared for a safe return on September 2nd.
Thank you to those parents who have reached out with questions and ideas! Please, if you do not see something that you would like answered being addressed, or you have a helpful hint to share with other parents send it to dean@srles.com so we can include it in upcoming newsletters.
Read complete update in the Important Document box above.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM NURSE BONNIE
It is important that all health forms are updated and submitted to Nurse Bonnie before the start of the school year. Please download these forms, complete and submit. Questions? Email nurse@srles.com. Thank you.
We are beginning to actively plan for our upcoming school year, and know there's a lot for our community to understand about how things will work in our new reality. HSA will host a meeting during the week of August 24th (date/time TBC) to gather parents and school leadership via Zoom to answer your questions. Please send your questions to hsa@srles.com. We will send out meeting details as soon as they are confirmed.
Thanks to our Golf Outing team which is working hard to prepare for our big fundraiser on September 21st. Registration is open but filling up fast! If you, friends or extended family are looking to golf at one of the premier private clubs in northern Fairfield county, we invite you to join us. CLASSROOM PREVIEW
Good news! Your children are leaving the kitchen and dining room tables to return to their classrooms! While everyone did a remarkable job with distance learning, in person instruction is the optimal way for students and teachers to interact. The St. Rose School faculty loves a challenge. Our classrooms have been set up according to the CDC recommended safety guidelines with students 4 to 6 feet apart from each other and traffic flow going one way. We are utilizing every space in the building to ensure that distancing is implemented. In some classes this requires use of an additional classroom. In the Middle School the doors between the portable classrooms have been widened to create one very spacious classroom.
We understand that some families will opt for remote learning; we are prepared to provide these students with a stellar virtual classroom experience as well. There will be ONE lesson for both options. It is imperative that remote students attend class virtually with their peers in order to create a seamless connection that bonds students together in the learning journey and allows teachers to engage the entire class in dynamic lessons and events.
