HOLIDAY 2021
The Out in the South Pooled Fund will award nearly $700,000 to 12 LGBTQ funds and allied grantmaking organizations throughout the South in 2021. In November, Alexander Lee, Project Director of our Grantmakers United for Trans Communities (GUTC) initiative, and Kris Hayashi, Executive Director, Transgender Law Center talked with Grantmakers In Health (GIH) Program Director Ann McMillan about their hopes for how health funders can further support the transgender community.

In early December, Funders for LGBTQ Issues participated in the #LetsTalkPower Twitter chat. Co-hosted by the Kataly Foundation, Justice Funders, and Solidaire, to discuss the shifting of power in philanthropy.

On December 2nd, Marvin Webb, our Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration at Funders for LGBTQ Issues presented on how organizations can use data to increase equity and employee retention for Nonprofit Quarterly. He provided examples of how demographic information can reveal important workplace trends and allowed the organization to make meaningful changes based directly on staff experience. You can read more about our team’s approach to this work in this recent news post

Funders for LGBTQ Issues will be closed for an extended holiday break starting December 20th. We will look forward to reconnecting when we are back in the new year and wish you a restful and warm holiday season.
Guided by our most recent strategic plan, which was developed in 2018 and covered the years 2019-2021, Funders for LGBTQ Issues has experienced significant growth in membership, revenues, and capacity. To build on these successes we designated 2022 as an assessment and planning year. This will be an opportunity for Funders to assess the prior strategic plan in greater depth, and to develop a new plan for the next 3-5 years. We are currently seeking a consultant (or team of consultants) to facilitate and develop our strategic planning process during 2022. Click here to read more and find the full RFP.
