Friends, Friendship has been our conversation for September! Each week sharing insight & encouragement for YOU as parents, on how to shape YOUR child into being & having good friends.
This week, I wanted to introduce you to maybe a new concept as
presented on Parent Cue...widening the circle of influence with your child. YOU are the most IMPORTANT INFLUENCER in your child's life. Research has found that expanding your child's range of INFLUENCERS increases their continued growth in faith substantially. Who doesn't like having people investing & mentoring them. It is makes a HUGE impact to say..."You are IMPORTANT to ME!" "I want to be apart of YOUR LIFE!" Creating a TEAM by inviting others to surround your child in prayer, speaking to real life challenges & sharing their faith journey gives your child support! You are equipping them to build relationships & have a SUPPORTIVE TEAM for when they fall. (Sorry, we all hit that wall & when we do, we need a TEAM to help us get back up!)
Expanding the team may seem overwhelming & the podcast gives great ideas on natural ways for you as a parent to invite & encourage the expansion of INFLUENCERS. There is however 1 simple step...ASK YOUR CHILD! Have your child give you the list of who they would name as someone(s) who is important to them. You don't need 5 people for the team, but having just 1 makes all the difference!

Go-To-God Time!
Sunday, is where we Go-To-God! Kids are encouraged to get out a notebook or piece of paper to follow along with the lesson. It is amazing, how every time we encounter God's word, we learn something new about God. Kids are encouraged to decorate their book & make it uniquely theirs. Then share it! September is ALL about Friendship! This week..."Friends ENCOURAGE one another!" God places people in our lives, when we need it most! God sent Elijah to be a mentor to Elisha. God had big plans for Elisha & he wanted to prepare him. Elijah was faithful to God & was a BIG encouragement to Elisha. Check-out how Elijah supported & encouraged his new friend.
