Award-Winning Newsletter Gunter Library received a public relations award from the Mississippi Library Association for the internal newsletter, Gunter Library News . The award goes to a newsletter which best represents the library's public relations activities. Gunter Library News highlights currents events and happenings at the Gunter Library for faculty, staff and students at GCRL and includes a comprehensive campus calendar. Martha Brown, Maryanne Anthony, and Joyce Shaw write and produce the newsletter .

Time to order books! Now is the time to submit your recommendations for books to be purchased to support your teaching and research. Please include as much information as possible--author, title, date, publisher, etc. Deadline - Friday, November 22 - end of day. Please email to: guntergcrl@usm.edu. Food Collection for The Lord is My Help

Gunter Library has partnered with the Rotary Club of Ocean Springs and the North Bay Civitan Club to serve as a collection point for their Thanksgiving food drives. We are accepting the following foods: instant dressing/stuffing mix, instant boxed potatoes, canned vegetables, turkey gravy, pumpkin pie filling, cranberry sauce, yams, and kitchen stables (sugar, flour, rice, beans to restock the pantry). These foods will be given to The Lord Is My Help which serves as the food pantry, soup kitchen, and distribution site for Meals on Wheels in Ocean Springs. Deadline for donations to the Rotary food drive is Tuesday, November 12th. Deadline for The Lord Is My Help collection is November 22nd.

Please be Mindful as you Move As we are in the middle of people being relocated, I am making a special request that people moving/relocating be mindful and aware that there are reports, documents, and other materials (internal memorandums, newsletter, etc.) that are important for documenting the history of GCRL, science done here, and science of the GoM. What may seem to be old stuff to you or the young person you have helping, may be in fact a piece of information that documents a contribution to coastal and marine science in our area and activities at GCRL.   Please feel free to send boxes to Gunter Library for our review. We are efficient and knowledgeable concerning these kinds of materials. Joyce Shaw

Upcoming Science Café Frogs of the MS Coast: The Story of the Dusky Gopher Frog  Tuesday, November 26th, 6:00 p.m. GCRL Dining Hall

Our presenter will be Jaime Smith, Masters Student under Dr. Robin Overstreet. Her area of interest is "Effects of time at initial exposure and concentration of Dermomycoids sp. on the Dusty Gopher Frog.
