From the Principal
Starting my third year at Lexington Catholic, I have had the opportunity to meet many of you at various events prior to March 13, 2020, when our school shifted its day-to-day operations to address the COVID-19 issues plaguing our community. I appreciate how our alumni and school community have welcomed me and my family into the LCHS community and allowed us to become a part of this school’s rich heritage.
Though my path to LCHS is different than yours, my background is like many alums. I was raised in a small town in rural Missouri before attending a Catholic high school in St. Louis, Missouri. My Catholic education helped foster a deep appreciation for my faith and instilled in me the values associated with a Catholic education. Because of my family’s experiences with Catholic education, we remain committed to the mission as our own child attends one of our Diocese’s Catholic elementary schools.
My experiences from teaching and working as an administrator in two Catholic high schools in St. Louis, an all-girls school and the largest co-ed Catholic high school in the state, have given me skills and experiences that fit well with our model and mission. Our school continues to provide an education that allows our students to be prepared for college or whatever plans they have after graduation. The same ideals that were part of our mission when you were a student at LCHS, continue to guide my decisions and planning for the future of LCHS.
Despite the limitations put on us by the pandemic, we have still introduced new technology platforms, an engineering program, and begun standardized test preparation in all our courses. These programs along with continued professional development for teachers, aide in maintaining the high-quality education this school has been known for.
We as a school community appreciate your continued support and prayers while we continue to provide a robust faith-filled education to our current students. Know that each one of you remain in my thoughts and prayers during these uncertain times.
In His Name,
Mr. Mathew P. George, Ed.S.

Kevin Ford ’94 - Chair
My name is Kevin Ford. I’m a 1994 graduate of Lexington Catholic High School. Throughout my years since graduation, I’ve been involved in events for the football team, Mid-Knight Stakes, and making hoagies. Until I got involved with the Alumni Council two years ago, I never realized how important the alumni is to the school. The alumni plays significant roles in so many aspects, as well as helping to raise money through our own fundraising events. As chair of the alumni council, I’d like to see an increase in alumni participation. I’d also like to utilize the digital platforms to greater connect and communicate with all alumni. I’d be open to any and all ideas you may have. The future of LCHS is important and I believe the alumni can help make a difference.

Cathy Wedding Boyd ‘84
Lexington Catholic High School has been a part of my family for a long time. Both of my parents graduated from LCHS. My husband and I sent our three children through Catholic as well, all with different experiences. My brother and his wife are alumni and I am guessing their three kids will be too. I think what I am getting at is, the Lexington Catholic community holds a special place in my heart.
While I may not see my fellow classmates often, I am thankful for the friendships and the memories that were made during our time together. In my role as Vice President of Finance and Operations, I may not be a classroom teacher, but I have the opportunity to support the mission of the school in many ways. I look at it as a way to give back to the community just as my parents have always done. It’s amazing to see how the school has changed over the last 36 years.
If anyone from the Class of ’84 ever wants to stop by and see the changes, let me know. Who would have thought there would be upstairs classrooms, a theater, and a real stadium out back!

UKnight to Serve
September 8 - October 30
|
|
|
While we can’t have hoagies this year, we can support LCHS and our UKnight to Serve Challenge with our incredible community spirit! Please click on this link for more information. The Alumni have been challenged to raise $80,000. Our school needs the funds that hoagies traditionally raised to support our students and families and fill the gap between what our families pay for tuition versus what tuition actually costs, a 15% difference. We reach out to our community through hoagies and that is still alive and well as 5% of money raised through October 30 will go to the Catholic Action Center. Join the spirit and fun! Keep up with our weekly videos.

LCHS reopened on September 8 with a new hybrid plan where both virtual and in-person learning happens daily. Half of the school attends in-person two days per week, while the other half attends virtually and then they switch. Wednesday is virtual for everyone. Lockers cannot be used and some hallways are one way only. Lunch is now served in the classroom and delivered from our fantastic cafeteria crew.

Sports are happening with new restrictions and guidelines being followed. Only athletes' families are able to attend games due to COVID-19 restrictions. We are celebrating Senior Knight for each sport on the first home game. We are thrilled to be back on the playing fields!

Tyler Deaton Dorsey '10
Hello fellow alumni! My name is Tyler Deaton Dorsey ‘10. A few years ago, I started my business, Focus Forward, which provides various types of academic support for students as well as ADHD Life Coaching. In this position, I have had the opportunity to see how different schools in America are handling this new way of schooling. Lexington Catholic has had to get creative with the ways they continue to offer their students and families top-notch education during a pandemic. I would love to share my experience with you of working with LCHS students as we navigate the 2020-2021 school year.
When I look at what Lexington Catholic is doing with their students versus other schools my clients attend, I have been beyond impressed with the level of education they have been able to provide their students while virtual learning. Lexington Catholic implemented a new hybrid model that includes scheduled video conferencing, the use of the TEAMS platform for messaging and chatting with teachers, while also upholding the same standards of in-person instruction. These undertakings show just how hard Catholic is working to find a balance between getting the students in the classroom and taking the necessary precautions to keep their families, faculty, and staff healthy and safe during the pandemic.
Although I am hearing most students beg to be back in the classroom, probably for the first time EVER, they are still receiving an amazing education. Schooling at home is hard and has presented challenges to even the best of students. However, Lexington Catholic is truly doing their part to make sure they are there to support their families as we get through this school year uKNIGHTed.
