The September 28th fundraiser was an action-packed event with tennis, clinics, raffles, auction, taco bar and social activity - all packed into one evening and captured by drone!

Tennis Center Update

On June 14, 2019 the Anne Arundel County Council voted to approve the FY 2020 budget which includes $6.53 million for construction of the Tennis Center at Millersville Park. The project is in design and scheduled to break ground late summer 2020. The County and the Tennis Alliance are working together with plans for an opening date in 2021.

High School Volunteer of the Year
The Tennis Alliance recognizes Max Dominguez as the Tennis Alliance Outreach High School Volunteer of the Year. Max volunteered more hours than any other high school student, supporting many of our 55 free community events offered in 2019.

Kelly Smither-Kemp Places First
at College Park SOMD Qualifier
Kelly Smither-Kemp went undefeated at the Special Olympics Maryland singles Level 4 qualifier held at the Tennis Center at College Park on October 6th.

Katie Blasko and Fallon Burgess placed 2nd while Lila Nowak and Oscar Crespo placed in the Skills division.
Odenton Day
Tennis Alliance Community Booth 
On October 5th, Tennis Alliance Outreach supported Odenton Day at the Odenton Volunteer Fire Department. Volunteers were kept busy at our interactive booth featuring mini tennis lessons for 10U and providing families with materials about health through sport and the benefits of learning tennis as a sport for Life!
Special Olympics Tennis
Brings Home GOLD!
On October 19th, the Anne Arundel County Special Olympics tennis team sent six athletes to the Special Olympics Fall Festival at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg. The top athletes from across the State competed in a season-ending championship.
Lila Nowak, Michael Heup and Gary Blake won GOLD medals.
Katie Blasko, Fallon Burgess and Kelly Smither-Kemp won SILVER Medals.

John Officer Works with Juniors
at 24 Hours of Tennis Clinic
Junior participants at the Tennis Alliance clinic held during 24 Hours of Tennis got a special treat working with legendary coach John Officer, former Naval Academy Head Coach Men's Tennis for 29 Years.

RecycleBall Master
Randy Stevens keeps the Recycle Ball program going strong. Look for the green boxes at the Navy Brigade and SportFit Bowie. To date, Anne Arundel County tennis players have kept 18,200 tennis balls out of US landfills!

Rackets for Recreation Program Distributes 41 Rackets
The Tennis Alliance collected, refurbished, and distributed 41 used rackets for Varsity/JV high school coaches, fall Unified Tennis high school coaches, Special Olympic athletes, adults & youth through our Tennis Alliance Outreach programs.
