Voters Guides: Vote411.org and printed VOTERS GUIDE
Look for publication of candidate information on VOTE411.org by September 18 and of the hard copy VOTERS GUIDE with your Midland Daily News on October 10. The League is looking into making the VOTERS GUIDE available in the community, since the usual outlets (such as Grace A. Dow Library and Senior Centers) may not be available due to COVID-19 concerns. If you have any suggestions for distributing printed Voters Guides, please email Sue McCollister.
SPECIAL NOTE:
As you know, funding to cover the cost of layout, printing and distribution of the VOTERS GUIDE by Midland Daily News primarily comes from generous donors in the community. The total in donations typically does not cover the entire cost, and we're so fortunate to have contributions from you, our members, that make up the difference.
If you would like to contribute, you can make out a check to LWV of the Midland Area and mail it to: LWV of the Midland Area PO Box 1203 Midland MI 48640-1203 For a tax-deductible contribution, make the check payable to LWVEF, the League's Education Fund. Please put "Voter's Guide" in the memo field.

From Jocelyn Benson,
MI Secretary of State Mailings
SEPTEMBER 9, 2020
Millions of Michiganders eligible to vote should expect to receive something in the mail from the Michigan Department of State in the next week or so, as Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson continues to work to inform voters ahead of the November 3 general election.
"Efforts to confuse and misinform Michigan voters are escalating in volume and frequency as we head into the fall," said Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. "As a result, it is more important than ever that voters receive official, trusted, reliable information from our office to ensure they know their rights and how to exercise them. That's why as the level of disinformation increases, so will our efforts to protect our voters and the integrity of Michigan's elections." The postcard to eligible but unregistered voters is being sent in coordination with the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC), which is used by states across the country to ensure the accuracy of their voter registration lists. "Secretary Benson is following best practices utilized in both red and blue states by contacting eligible but unregistered voters," said David Becker, who led the creation of ERIC while working at the Pew Charitable Trusts and is now the executive director of the Center for Election Innovation and Research. "Similar mailings are going out this month in Texas, Florida and Georgia, all led by Republican secretaries, and in Arizona and Pennsylvania, led by Democratic secretaries." Voter registrations and absentee ballot requests can be submitted now online at Michigan.gov/vote
