4Cs Update: Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) &
Our Community
March 13, 2020
Dear 4Cs clients and partners,
4Cs of Alameda County is acutely aware of the precautions being taken to keep our community safe and healthy and the ever-evolving impact to our families and community members. To that end, we are strongly suggesting that families, child care providers, and others who work in and support the Early Care and Education field take a moment to visit First 5 Alameda County's Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Resources Webpage  with links to up-to-date information from county agencies. While many programs and decisions are in flux, we wanted to keep you updated of the implications that COVID-19 has on 4Cs work with our community. Please see below for updates and visit our Facebook Page for up-to-the minute news and changes about 4Cs programming.

As we navigate this uncertain time together, the health of our clients, staff, and community is of utmost importance and we thank you in advance for your flexibility.

Be well,

Renee S. Herzfeld
Executive Director
4Cs Programs and Services
We are frequently reviewing up to date information and will provide updates on a regular basis:

As of Monday, March 16, the following programs are closed: Provider Trainings, Play & Learn groups, parenting workshops, large gatherings, and some HPN programs (please see below).

As of Monday, March 16, the following programs are open: Child care payment services, child care resources and referrals, VITA, Census 2020 Questionnaire Assistance, CalFresh enrollment, and 4Cs Community "Closets". Normal office hours at all 4Cs office locations remain in effect.

Child Care Payment Assistance : 4Cs of Alameda County will continue to process child care payments as usual during this time. We strongly suggest dropping off all timesheets in the dropbox located at the entrance to 4Cs' Hayward Office rather than with our receptionist in order to limit face-to-face contact. If your child care needs change during this time, please contact your Payment Specialists directly (you can find their contact information here ).

Workshops, Trainings, Play & Learn, and Children's Faire: Trainings, workshops, and the Children's Faire (scheduled for May 16th) are temporarily on hold until the end of March per recommendations from the Alameda County Public Heath Department. 4Cs leadership will reassess the timing of these events at the end of the month and release an update in two weeks. You should also be receiving direct communications from your training or event coordinator about specific cancellations and postponements.

Hayward Promise Neighborhoods: HPN navigation and support services are still available, however Parent Promise Academy, Play & Learn groups, and the Census 2020 workshop scheduled for March 16th have been cancelled until further notice. These program cancellations are due to the recommendations set forth by Hayward Unified School District as they take place at HUSD sites.

Child Care Providers: Please contact 4Cs if you are planning on closing temporarily so that we can keep our referrals accurate. All licensed providers should sign up to receive the most up to date communications from Community Care Licensing Division. You can sign up at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/community-care-licensing/policy/provider-information-notices/child-care .

Parents: Many districts throughout the county are closing. Check with your district’s website for the most up to date information. If you are in need of child care referrals, please reach out to our Resource and Referral team .
